    New car shopping

Starting to entertain the thought of getting a new ride, but dont know where to start, so hoping for some suggestions of what are good, and what to stay away from.
I currently have an 02 Dodge Ram pickup. Id like to stay away from trucks this time, but havent ruled them out. It needs to be able to somehow get a race bike and stuff to the track, so either a truck or SUV or whatever. Id strongly prefer a standard transmission. Gas mileage is relatively important, but I dont need to get a gallon better for a crap car.
    So anyway, open to suggestions.

Oh I forgot the most important thing required. A pussy magnet must come standard or at least as an option, cause lord knows my looks and personality just aint cutting it.

    Re: New car shopping

I've got an 05 Tacoma double cab short bed. Toyota makes the crew cab in a standard. I've got plenty of tow capacity, 4x4, with all the options. I love the truck. My truck before it was a chevy. I can easily say that the chevy is the last domestic truck I buy for a long freakin time. The Tacoma has everything I could ever want in a truck, with the feel of a car (in the cabin). I can put my bike in the back and pull pretty much anything I need.
My vote is for Toyota Tacoma!!! Plus the resale value is crazy high!!!

The RC 51 is 430 buddy....It will raise the headlights a little bit but the tacoma can handle it and so should the ridgeline.

I added a 3 inch lift to my Tacoma. It was a spacer and add a leaf lift. My Triumph SPD3 is a pretty heavy bike and barely makes the back end of the Taco sag. Plus they kick ass off road!!!

Ok bumpin this, but for a good reason. Looks like I wont be getting an SUV, but instead an audi. Any of you guys have/had one? How are they? Reliable, good in snow, that sort of crap?

    Re: New car shopping

I just traded in my 98 A4 last week. Overall I loved the car, the fit and finish of the interior is fantastic, drivetrain was pretty reliable(I had the 2.8L V6 with a 5 speed and 160k miles) but with an Audi, like most luxury imports, when it comes time to do repairs, take out a second mortgage. I don't know which model you're looking at, but in the time I had mine I replaced all eight(yes, 8) front control arms, 2 tie rod ends, 2 catalytic converters, 4 O2 sensors, timing belt and water pump.

The timing belt and water pump is a biggie. Replace every 90k miles, but through Audi it will run you well over $1k unless you know someone who is a mechanic and will do the labor for a case of beer.

Check out Audizine.com and do some research on the vehicle you're interested in, common problems, what to look for, etc... LOADS of information on the forum. Good luck with your purchase.

My A4, as it was when I traded it in.

Yah, we looked at BMWs too, they just dont do it for me until you get into the 6 and 7 series, and those are a bit past my budget.

What year Audi are you getting? Would it be new? I have heard that the Audis pre 2004 were not reliable at all, but that may be from the experience of people I know and the word of mouth.

How much are you willing to spend?

We really like our Acura TL type S....Oh, and having owned a few VWs...including a really cool Corrado, I can tell you the service/repair costs on the Acura are WAY more reasonable....

I have Y2K-A4 and it's a money pit. However, I do beat the balls out of it. Chicks dig it though.

Yea I beat the piss out of mine also.... that's why I didn't include the leaking cam seals to the list of shit wrong with it... I attribute those to me putting a supercharger on a car that already had 120k miles on it.
