I can if need to, but I don't really like it...I go out for such a short time that a quick pee before loading up covers me

going to try and get out again Weds...or Thurs

hopefully there will be better waves...been flat a few days now

Flat again at seal beach yesterday evening after work (who cares! I actually fit in surfing after work! Woot!)... caught a couple just for the exercise under the moonlight and the water temp was good enough that you didn't need a wetsuit...felt good!

Still going once a week...and getting better at higher paddle speed before the wave lifts you

Flat at seal Beach again this evening...popped up quite a bit today but mostly on broken waves

Only 30 mins in the water but I tried to catch as many waves as possible which felt like a Sprint. My heart rate was nice and high as I paddled furiously try to catch multiple waves in one set.

Great workout! Possibly more fun Saturday!

Water temp was pretty good too...I actually went out in trunks. The wind after the sun went down, however, was quite chilly. It was colder in the air than the water...

    Heck no!

I actually enjoy sometimes just going to watch waves crash.. pretty magnificent stuff if ya ask me...some beaches like Aliso Beach can't be surfed because it's shorebreak waves. Still cool to chill at.

Seal Beach will be 5ft and bolsa chica (near huntington) will be 4 ft

Re: Carrying 8' board in truck

    What a day!!

Got a ton of thumbs up, pictures taken of me, and questions by people (okay, dudes) about the board on the Vstrom... it's a hit

Stopped by the wedge (it's small LOL), Newport Beach south/North sides of the pier (looked easy! I want to come back), Huntington Beach north side of the pier, sunset Beach, and my practice spot seal beach. Tons of boogie boarders at the wedge and a couple expert surfers...tons of people just come to watch, take pics, and applaud if a surfer can catch a wave. Newport Beach I've always avoided because I thought it was ritzy big money ey and women out of my league... surprisingly there was not much surf and other beginners out there. I can come here and big fish the small pond LOL. Dedicated Moto spots too! Huntington was nuts...big waves breaking all over the place. Magnificent to watch, but not for me to surf (yet). Sunset looked chi...not crowded at all! But the sets came in quick...I may try it soon. Seal was LOLOL. It's usually so flat, and today it was popping! Waves we're well into the 4' range = perfect for me! Current was strong though and I had a tough time drifting back to where I didn't want to be LOL. Found a cool spot though: waves were coming in exactly the same way...small one breaking right and bigger one breaking left. Bingo! Time to hit over and over...except after 1-1/2 hours my left leg started to cramp up rested a bit and body surfed the last 20 mins or so. Brought some juices with me and slammed them right away. Not tired after like I usually am Good overall day

Maybe a quick hour tomorrow...then I gotta work on the smoker!

Man that looks fun! I bought a boogie board on venice beach and spent a few hours falling, flapping around, and generally looking ridiculous. Finally just gave the board to some beachgoer and went and got a skateboard instead (Birdhouse, sweet deck). Beautiful beaches there, I spent most of my time around Santa Monica / Malibu and never really went down past Long beach. Saw some mighty waves just walking the beaches last trip, I could spend forever just staring at those views. Making me miss the west coast.

    That's about right!

Waves toe are majestic...violent and peaceful altogether...I don't go to the wedge to surf, just watch.

    4-5' is my limit...but it's awesome

If you think that's fun, check out what I am missing today....

Dirt track racing, surfing, and rock shows on the beach?!?

Those are all my favorite things!!!

And I am stuck at work...

    Also...SURF ROCK IS AWESOME

    Everyone should listen to it.

Worked 12 days straight and needed a mental detox!

Finally made it out to see Newport Beach... wasn't bad...waves broke in both directions, but as long as you weren't in the wrong spot they we're pretty gentle. Would go again, but I definitely want to go back to Malibu eventually and see these single direction waves they all talk about. Getting better at paddling past the break point and knowing which waves will be bigger ones. Popped on my first wave and felt good! Then sucked the rest of the day LOL. I somehow drifted and ended up with an audience of a couple girls (laughing?) rooting for me so I caught a half dozen broken waves and they flashed me thumbs up.

Bike setup is perfect. I bring exactly the minimum amount of what I need and have fun doing a coastal ride to/from home.

Even saw a vintage car show/surf board show in Huntington and bumped into a couple people I knew. Totally rad : hellyeah:

wow...after getting pushed left and right at newport, paddling near the jetty at seal beach, low tide, was pretty easy...felt like I had good paddle speed and not as fatigued as before. Seal was pretty gentle today as usual so getting around was easy.

we have 4-5 days of heat in socal (100+) in the coastal cities...so getting into the water felt grrrreat

just paddling out into the sunset trying to catch a couple waves...

Re: Carrying 8' board in truck

    sheez, been over a month!

but bike running again means getting away for a quick surf

the question was - could I do it in December?

    Answer: yes

initial feet in the water were cold as expected...not to the point of pain, but definitely chilly. Slowly eased my way into the water to get acclimated, and oddly enough, I felt waves of warm currents coming in. The Santa Ana winds are in effect and I really wanted to see how this impacted the water - more choppy than usual, and a little different curling patterns. More water being kicked off the waves into the air so sort of fun to watch. Currents were a b!tch though and I kept getting pushed into the jetty. Bad trying to get out of, but excellent exercise that I was looking for. I'm going to start a hashtag called #BW meaning broken waves...I haven't been out in so long it all felt sort of foreign, so I just caught a few broken waves to get my confidence back up and be safe. It was also easy breezy to catch so I could be super lazy and just have fun riding them in.
