    Go cart track ideas

Hey I want to setup a track for our companies go cart. Just cones in our parking lot, but challenging enough to make it fun.

I was going to put my lap timer on it then have everyone do 5 laps. Best time wins!

For the course I want to set it up so you cannot just floor it and steer. Maybe setting up a sprinkler in one corner to keep the track wet for a section.

Any thoughts or suggestions ? This would be for fun and of course beer! Sorry Redhook employees only.

    Make a mini-Loudon.

Then sit back and say "See! It's not as easy as it looks, is it?"

    "ROOKIES!!"

Sounds like fun, good luck bro!

yeah... make it a 1:1 scale, see how long it takes to get through it on a go-cart... my money's on 20 minutes

Steve, the sprinkler idea is atually pretty cool just make sure there's plenty of runoff room & no cones on the outside for when they spin like a top hell, i'd put it in a hairpin to make it interesting, plus you'll be goin slow to begin with.

another idea would be a slalom section..... maybe make it optional & you deduct 5 secondsfrom your lap time if you do it

Could always use F1 Boston or Racing America's tracks for ideas:

The sprinkler idea is cool... but I remember seeing a few carts spin out at F1 on that corkscrew turn... Hairpin turn would be sweet: (check it out at 0:50 into the vid...)

btw... i've got a lap timer if you need it... but i'm gonna have to do some extensive testing on your course & cart to make sure it's working correctly

Thanks for the f1 track maps. They are helpfull in how to use the most track/area. The parking lot where I want to do it is big enough, next to the beer garden and has no curbs or barrier's lining it. Plus we can keep traffic away from it without interfering with parking.

I just looked at the go cart. If needs some work. I think a bunch of people who were drinking took it for a ride..... Gee I wonder how that happened ?
The slicks should work good in the wet...he he he.

Pete thanks for the offer on the lap timer. Hopefully I will have one by then (it's on it's way), if not I'll take you up on that.

Hell ya was that a drift. Tight clip.

suggestion for your go kart track. Put up cut-outs of people to have to avoid. Should make it for a good drunkin time.

Too bad it'll cost around $300 per cut-out... guess he'll need to use real people instead. "Hey, STAND STILL! It doesn't work of you run around like a sissy!"

Just need card board... I like you're idea instead, Moving targets are always way more challanging. Just have them sign a waiver for liability.

I like you're thinking. There are a few people I would like to "volunteer" for obstacle duties.
