I think the cat got the message. It was 50 or so feet outside of the fence line a couple nights ago (I was surprised it came down from the tree) and as soon as the back door opened it took off like it's tail was on fire. We'll see how long that lasts, but for now it seems smart enough to understand that very bad things happen inside the fence. Either way, this is a soft indoor cat and we DO have coyotes in the mix. The problem will likely settle itself. Hell, I've even seen a fisher not far away. Nasty little fuckers.
My wife lost wunna her cats to a fisher. Now the other one won't wander more than 10' from the house. When it's inside, it avoids the pups at all costs. If we have dogs roaming the house, that cat is nowhere to be found...
Either way, I'm here for ya. If you feel better knowing YOUR dog didn't do the deed, I have one that's more than willing. Fact!

The cool thing is, she won't leave any evidence. They'll hafta wait a day or two for the fur to pass. Other than that though, in less than 20 minutes there'll be no trace of it any more. I base the time on it taking her about 7 minutes to make a chipmunk disappear...bones, fur, everything. I can't base it on her love of frogs though - that's just a quick chomp-crunch-chomp and they're gone. Gone in 60 seconds-type stuff...

I lost a cat to a fischer.. they are mean sonsofbitches ... They guy I bought my house from had shot one in the back yard and had it mounted. When we were looking at the house before we bought it. My wife saw it, said in no uncertain terms the mount had to leave!
Biggggggggggety Bump.
Hey, guess who's stuck in a tree... Again?
I could hear him whining when I got home from the track last night. Still up there when I got home from work today... The heat didn't get him. Maybe the cold might?
Edit:
I should also mention that this little fucker spent the entire winter using my cleared gravel driveway as a litterbox when my property was the only reasonable "outlet" over the winter.
If it makes you feel any better, after a fiasco with a dog I picked (mostly) that turned out to be a deviant and went back to the rescue, I gave my wife the green light to get whatever she wanted, I was staying out of it.
She rewarded me with that foofy dog you may have seen pics of on the facefuck.
Of course RTR (who had previously been terrified of dogs after an incident with the shitcanoes on the corners' three shepherds) instantly latches onto this thing, and starts fawning over it.
Moral of the story: daddy is getting a new motorcycle or three.

We had a neighbor with a pit bull who let it get loose in the neighborhood during the day on a regular basis: Once a week. Our neighbor had an adult female cat. We heard a row one day that sounded at first like a pit bull eating a cat - followed by the sound of a yelping, and rapidly retreating pit bull never seen on our street again.
When we got a dog my wife and kids would worry about our cat. I told them to leave them alone and let them work it out. Once a dog gets a cat paw dragged down his nose, he becomes a much better neighbor.....

Ours is already 4, so it's staying little.
It's well behaved and stuff, I just don't like, and never wanted, a little dog.
I'm actually almost over it by now, and it certainly isn't going anywhere. I'll make my peace with it one way or another and get on the team.

Some little dogs are pretty cool. My friend was a west highland terrier (Westie) and I thought it was this little white fluffy lap dog. No, he's a stone cold killer. I've never seen a dog that will kill everything without prejudice of size, species, venom, etc. 17lb dog with 150lb of attitude.

damn, I feel bad for the cat, but this is a pretty funny thread
My dad always said "I've never seen a cat skeleton in a tree!"
No, tricky.

Do you know if the owners know where their cat is? Is that tree on your property?
