and impressive Block Chop time by the gal from Paul Smith's, decent stock saw time as well, wish I coulda stuck around for the mens hotsaw

when I was attending Paul Smith's, the first sawmill they had, was destroyed(burnt), so for our sawmill class, we had to go off campus to a sawmill in Ausable Forks, not sure how many years they used that arrangement with a private commercial mill before they got a new mill on campus

the emblem of the college, the leaning pine, was still standing when I was there too

the 200ft+ tall tree was leaning directly toward the dorm I was in freshman year, it came down during my second year, but I wasn't in that dorm, accounts are that it was a thunderous thud when it hit the ground

Re: Chainsaws: What do You Have?

I worked the hell out of my box store Husky 440 last weekend. Dropped and bucked up 7 or 8 ~20 ft nuisance trees as well as a 50 ft maple. I ran 5 or 6 tanks of fuel and bar and chain oil through it and went through a chain and a half. I have three chains for the saw now (using the Randy method) and get hooked up at $5/chain for sharpening through one of my work vendors. I've had the saw a year or so now and don't really have any complaints other than the bar is probably a bit long for the power head. Eventually I'll get a larger saw for felling and downsize the current saw to a 16" bar for limbing but I don't really have the immediate need for it.
