As far as the 235 is concerned, it will need the fuel tank replaced because it pisses fuel during every fill up but it's a runner!
Do you have to change the bar and sprocket, or just the chain?

Or emergency saw in Boston is an MS171 with Pico chain.

The gauge of the chain and bar have to match for proper operation but any pitch can work (0.25", 0.325", 0.375"). The drive sprocket has to match the pitch of the chain but can drive any gauge chain you put on it.

Our emergency saw in Boston is an MS171 with Pico chain.
Pico Micro or Pico Micro-Mini? Stihl gets confusing with their nomenclature. Pico Micro is low profile 3/8" with a gauge of 0.050". Pico Micro-Mini is 3/8" with a gauge of 0.043" and is the factory chain size for the MS170/171.

Soooo... any of you fine chainsaw lovin gentlemen wanna come take a couple trees outta my yard come spring time?

I've got maybe 2-5 trees I wouldn't mind taking down. Good news is they're only 1-2 feet thick. Catch is they're all about 30-50 feet tall and well within reach of the house.

Just want a bit more sunshine in the back yard and

I cheat. Tie an arborist rope as high in the tree as possible, through a snatch block in the direction of fall, then to the tractor. Put a bit of load on it and then cut.
