Dead deer disposal in MA? *Updated - fun gruesome carnage pics!*

    **LAST UPDATE**

    Hey, where'd it go?

Ahh.. found it. The coyotes dragged it further away from the house and picked it clean..

    ***

Found a dead 9 point buck in my lawn yesterday. Looks like the poor guy got hit and walked around the yard for a bit until he died over the course of the night. Not a slow death.

Either way, cops and env police gave me a big "F U" since it's on our property (no game warden in our town). No one wants the damn thing since the meat is stressed. So I just threw it off the side of my yard into a ditch hoping some coyotes will get it. Not really wanting coyotes around but what else is there?

Could I legally put it out in the trash? Just cut off the legs and stick it in some trashbags? The antlers have already been spoken for.. sorry.

UPDATE - well, the coyotes got to it.. and by the looks of it, i'd say they're not finished yet.

I'd call the Board of Health, Highway Department, Parks Department, and Cemetery Department in that order.

One of them should be able to tell you what to do.

Thanks Bill, those places all told me just to bury it and make sure it's not near the water table since we have a well. Thinking I won't be burying it with the ground being frozen. Maybe I'll buy some coyote attractant/bait and douse the deer with it.

Sounds like it's time to load it into the back of the pickup truck and drop it off at a rest area or the front lawn of the town hall...

the meat is no good. it's too tough to eat since it has become stressed from the impact.

i'm liking these ideas. although it's gonna be a pain in the ass to pull this thing out of the ditch. it's gotta be 200+ lbs.

that would tend to tenderize the meat,

string it up, let it hang a couple days, then cut it into seatks

If it made it into your yard, I'd think most of the meat would still be good.

Don't you mean, where can you find a taxidermist? Just think how cool it would be standing out there with your holiday montage...or your kitchen?

I'd do that just for the conversation...
"wow, I never knew you hunted?!"
    "nope, I don't"
"well how did the deer get here?"
"I brought it up the stairs"
"oook, how did it get to the bottom of the stairs then?"
    "it walked there."

Either that or truck + I-190 green zone in the wee hours of the morning, and I've got a truck
