    Digital Camera with wifi?

Anyone have one they can recommend? We'll be travelling in spots I may not want to carry my phone.

What are you looking for in size and capability? Full size DSLR? Pocketable point and shoot? High end point and shoot with manual control? Etc...

Great questions. I have a DSLR. I just want a simple point and shoot that I can slip in a (large) pocket. Don't need a lot of manual-adjustment capabilities, but would like a decent zoom and panorama and wifi capability. I don't even think I need a touch screen since I don't care about doing a lot of settings control. Don't want to spend a ton on it.

I got this one last year, chose it after reading lots of reviews

    Canon PowerShot SX610 HS - Wi-Fi Enabled

I'm still transferring by cable to my PC since the wi-fi thing is gonna take me a while longer to grasp.

    But I like it.

    ... note: memory card sold separately. I got a 32 gig sandisk -- think I saw 64, 128 ...

I like the small compact battery charger, and I bought a spare battery so I'd always have a charged battery ready to go.

But checkout on-line reviews for yourself. I searched for "best compact digital cameras under $(insert your limit)" -- that's how I found it. I've hardly scratched the surface of its capabilities.

Thanks again - looks like there is a 620 that has some slight improvements.

Cannon has models of the same series that are above and below it in terms of capabilities so you can tune it to your budget if you desire.

In the compact 1/2.3in sensor with big zoom segment, all the big camera manufacturers (Nikon, Cannon, Sony, Panasonic, etc.) have a number of options. You would be hard pressed to go wrong with any of them.

    Re: Digital Camera with wifi?

I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40. 18MP, 24X optical zoom (I think), GPS, wifi, a decent Leica lens (1/2.3in CMOS sensor), all the usual bells and whistles for pics and video. It's been a good camera for hiking and travelling. The one thing I miss from an SLR is filters - I've had a few point 'n shoot cameras and none have been great in bright/hazy sunlight conditions. Including this one.

Other than that, I like the flexibility, picture quality, and ease of use of this camera. The GPS is a nice feature, but quickly kills the battery. Having a backup battery is required with this camera. The new version has a 30X optical zoom. Even at <24X, a tripod comes in handy.

Thanks - I've been reading about that one as well.
