    Non-ethanol gas stations?

Does Mass have any? Southern NH would be fine too.

Putting a car away for the winter and would prefer to fill it up with ethanol-free gas first, if I can.

Seems like all of these places Ethanol-free gas stations in the U.S. and Canada are hardware stores and stuff, that probably sell it in cans. There are some airports on there too, but I'm not sure how that works.

most probably are 5gal pails or smaller. i used to go to Gasco in Westborough for CAM2 (Sunoco Standard 110 leaded), they have a dedicated pump.

if you can't get any, maybe try Startron fuel treatment, it's always worked great for me. ('66 Porsche 912 winter snooze + a finicky GMC pickup that sat a lot)

It's not local but most Stewarts Shops in our area have it. It's real nice to have for my carbed toys and tools

Isn't AV gas ethanol free? Pretty sure you can still get it from airports.

That brings me back. In the 80's, my father restored a '67 (I think. Maybe a '68) 912 and shortly there after a mid 70's 911. I remember being little and still having a hard time fitting in the back seat with my brother! The 912 was black and the 911 was a brilliant white just like yours.

nice! i was on the verge of restoring it (needed pans, tiny bit of motor work and suspension) but decided to let it go to an older gentelman that was doing his last resto project. would love to see it today, i bet it's beautiful. would have kept it but bikes take all my time/money and i'd rather work on bagging an early '60s Beetle instead. Re: Non-ethanol gas stations?

What about seeking out race gas? NE Dragway has pumps. I believe all the higher octane stuff is pure. Just don't get any of the leaded stuff. I'm guessing there's some pumps in the area that compete with the dragway too. Or maybe some just off a major highway catering to those on their way to loudon.

Am I the only one who wouldn't care? Fill the tank to the top with whatever is local and put it away. I'm skeptical that a few months of a car in dry storage is really going to attract that much moisture.

    Re: Non-ethanol gas stations?

There used to be a couple places around Lake Winnipesaukee that sold non-ethanol/non-MTBE gas. I haven't researched it in a while. I stabilize pump gas in the car I store every winter and have never had a problem. 20 gallons fresh gas, appropriate amount of stabilizer PLUS the appropriate amount of Seafoam. Fires right up every spring and has no problem burning the tank...

Thanks guys - I'll probably just fill it and run stabilizer and hope for the best. I'm sure it'll be fine, just didn't realize non-ethanol gas had gotten so hard to find.

Thanks! That's probably my best bet, but at $4+/gal I'll probably not bother.

    Re: Non-ethanol gas stations?

While it may not be desirable to run higher octane gas in an engine that wasn't designed for it, others I know swear by using it when storing vehicles for hibernation. Yet they still use stabilizer...go figure...

As ZX mentioned you can get MOGAS (Ethanol and Lead free) at Hampton NH Airport 24/7. You have to pump it into a container, no vehicles allowed. It was $4.75 a gallon in late Summer.

Do not select AVGAS: it's higher octane, but has lead.

I am storing the WRX again Dec-Mar, using regular fuel and StaBil storage formula. We use MOGAS for all small carbed engines.

    Re: Non-ethanol gas stations?

I have been Winterizing my boat for 9 years with E10 and I have no issues at all. I just fill the tank completely with marine stabil added to the 87 octane gas. It has always started right up and run perfectly in the spring. It is fuel injected.

I do run the carbs dry and empty the tanks on all the carbureted small engines that I store long-term. I run my bike carbs dry and leave the tank filled, but I tend to take it for rides on nicer Winter days, so that's probably overkill.

Ever try PRI-G? We used it in our [100 gallon] boat tank, not sure if one is better than another.

the AMA is fighting ethanol in fuel, join if you have not yet and put your $ to work. I have had the + AMA roadside assistance for years, save a lot compared to AAA and they tow a lot further.

I have not. Never even heard of it.

I am sold on Stabil. I parked my first boat from 1997 to 2002 (engine was worn out and I had newborn) with a full tank of Stabil-treated fuel and it was still good 5 years later.

Just use copius amounts of the fuel stabilizer of your choice and you'll be fine. Unless you have a Ferrari or some other exclusive car.

One of the things I miss most about living in North Carolina is being able to get ethanol free gas at most gas stations. Heck, you can even buy 100 octane race fuel at some gas stations in NC! My tanks are loaded up with marine grade Sta-bil...

It's a pretty exclusive '92 Saab convertible...I filled it up and added Stabil. I'm sure it'll be fine. Just used to being able to get non-ethanol gas more easily.
