Have you thought about Smuggs or Mad River??

Also, if you rent out the stone hut at the top of Stowe (no heat, sleeps about 10 good friends) you can look down on the Stowe fireworks and get first tracks in the morning...

Please send me a PM if you are intrested. I need your email address to include you on the distro list and also need a way to get a deposit from you. First $50 deposit in hand gets you a spot.

So far I have 7 out of 14 people who gave me a deposit. Myself and Silent 1 are the only two NESR people so far. I reserved 3 rooms at Grandpa Grunts Lodge for three nights of lodging from Wednesday December 29th till Friday the 31st. The 3 rooms (room 2, 3, & 5) combined will hold a total of 14 people. Some rooms have waterbeds, queen size beds, or bunk beds. This is in the same building as the BYOB Lounge, Fireplace, Dart Board and Pool Table. The price is $34 ($102 total) per person per night and includes breakfast! If you do not want breakfast then it is $30 a night ($90 total).

The skiing ability is going to be from first time skiers to people who are advanced. Some people ski and other snowboards. So it is a good mix of people.

12/28 – Tuesday Night - Welcome to drive up to Bedford, NH and stay at my house Tuesday night.

12/29 – Wednesday - Ski SugarBush the first day. Sugar Bush (1840 Sugarbush Access Rd, Warren, VT 05674-) is 3 Hours from my house.

Wednesday night check in at Grandpa Grunts – 2 hours away from Sugar Bush

12/30 – Thursday - Ski Jay Peak, Lodge Grampa Grunts

12/31 – Friday - Ski Jay Peak, Stowe, Mad River, Smugs, or maybe a slope in Canada / Lodge Grampa Grunts for New Years

1/1/05 – Saturday - Recover, drive back to Bedford, NH 4 hours

1/2/05 – Sunday - Relax before going back to work

I don't know how familiar you are with the area but at Jay - it's a trip to go anywhere else. Quebec is about 6 hours so anything around there is out. Only real option for Canadia is Mont Tremblent just northwest of Montreal but I am not totally sure of the distance from Jay.
Stowe - you're looking at about a 2+ hour ride there, mad river the same and they don't allow boards and about the same for smuggs.

My personal opinion is that Jay is the best around anyway. I would say that the only reason so venture away from there is if it is rediculously cold or poor conditions - poor conditions are unlikey that time of year but the cold could be a factor. If that is the case you ride the tram all day, stay in the woods and hit the lodge to warm every couple of runs.

Man i love Jay Peak That's not a good time for me though but if you happen to book another trip like that, keep us posted.
Gotta love a place where it's 15 minutes from the time you get in the chair lift line, till the time it takes you to get off at the top of the mountain Then with all them awesome glades they have, it takes you 45 minutes to get down the mountain
