Finding brake switch/sensor on a Volkswagen?

Car question...I know, I know. Anyone happen to know where is the brake light switch on a MK7 Golf/GTI? On most other vehicles I've looked at, there's a sensor mounted on the upper part of the brake pedal arm that, when the pedal is depressed, sends a signal to illuminate the brake lights. I don't see anything on my '17 GTI brake pedal arm, and am trying to install a trailer brake controller.

Let's avoid a discussion about whether to tow with a GTI...

    TIA!

To answer your question in the VW forum the 1 vs. 2 in the first picture is more than likely pin location on the connector of the brake light switch.

just curious, are you puttin in a proportional, or timed controller?

been thinking of towing with my Vstrom, but don't like the idea so much of towing something that may be heavier than the bike, without having brakes on it. Even though I routinely tow things with my UTV that are heavier than the UTV
