So I'm in CA right now. Santa Barbara. Brother in law passed on Sunday. Arrived last night
To the point
Question: wife says his brother has several firearms, major ammo.
All unsecured in his house and his parents house ( he moved out just 3 months ago after living there 8 plus years)
Firearms are revolvers , rifles. Semi automatic and revolvers
Not sure if registered or unregistered
W
Other than me calling a local gun store and asking if they can provide a consignment sale and the appropriate regulations.
Does anyone have any insight if for some reason I would want to bring to MA? ( his mother may want to gift them or sell to me, not this time but eventually )
Also we are going to his house today. He may have more firearms possibly unsecured. Advice on that scenario of transport or security would be appreciated. I do not want to transport them as have no CA permit ( MA permit but not on me)
Very vague questions here. I've only slept about 4 last night. And few the last few nights helping the wife.
Thanks for any info
hmmmm......
Gifting / selling would need to involve FFL just like a sale across states.
If he had them listed in a will and you are inheriting them then that makes some things a bit easier

No will. Sudden death.
9 mm s&w
Ak47 Egyptian
M5 tactical. Modified.
Shorty 12 gauge
Loads of ammo. Trying to I'd if registered
Registration doesn't matter. Once they go to an FFL they are on his books.
Everything but the AK can come here. If you really want the AK you can ship it to an NH dealer and pick it up there, but Maura wouldn't be very fond of that.
You can just package everything up and ship directly to a dealer in your home state. Handguns cannot go through USPS unless shipped by a dealer. Send the ammo separate, use flat rate USPS boxes.
Yes, which you can do in NH.
Check if the Maadi? serial is pre-94. There were pre and post ban rifles.
This the federal law.
"Intestate succession" means there is no will and the property passes according to state law.except that this paragraph (A) shall not preclude any person who lawfully acquires a firearm by bequest or intestate succession in a State other than his State of residence from transporting the firearm into or receiving it in that State, if it is lawful for such person to purchase or possess such firearm in that State, (B) shall not apply to the transportation or receipt of a firearm obtained in conformity with subsection (b)(3) of this section....
I inherited a shotgun from my FIL in Florida. Went to a local gun shop, bought a case, and took it home on the plane. I have a MA LCF so it was lawful for me to possess. Once here, I filed an FA10. No one asked to see the will.
If the firearms are being gifted by the family member as executor, that does not fall under the inheritance exemption. Generally such transfers must comply with the laws of both states, and an FFL must be involved.

Do not do this.
Most ammo is shipped UPS Ground.

Technically, if a MA FFL cannot transfer the rifle to an individual due to AWB restrictions, neither can a NH FFL. The transfer can only take place if it's legal in the state of residence and the state of transfer.
Yes, I know there are multiple shops ignoring the AG's declaration that the rifles are a violation of the MA AWB, but they're putting their FFL at risk by doing so.
Shipping Restrictions | USPS
If there's an exception, great, but I don't find one. I've shipped rifles USPS, no problem.
FYI there is a new ORM-D decal that no longer says "cartridges."

pay no attention to the ratchet no idea how that got in there.
hmmmm......
Just from the pictures, the only thing you might be able to get into MA is the shotgun.
AR and AK, most FFLs won't touch due to Healey's AWB re-interpretation
The pistol doesn't appear to be on the MA Roster, so likely no, and it has 10+ mags with it so those are definitely a no no.

The ratchet, if it has a 10mm socket on the end, could be the big win here.

Best bet is to call a mass lawyer who knows firearm laws. Go from there, you may be able to get all of them..
