    Spit or spilled??
You need to remove the keyboard, hold it upright, and spray it with alcohol to wash it down. You have dried coffee in the key contacts.

When all else fails a replacement keyboard is probably like $30

Probably has to be named brand model number if not obvious is in the battery tray

Re: How to fix a laptop that got coffee spilt on it

Laptop keyboards are typically pretty easy to remove if you have patience with any snap-fit plastic parts. Find the service manual for it, or watch someone do it on youtube. Usually a plastic bezel pops off revealing a few small screws. Clean any coffee residue out with alcohol or electric contact cleaner.

The keys themselves can be individually removed as well. But that can be annoying. I'd probably get the keyboard itself out. Give it a good shaking. Then put it somewhere dry for a few hours.

If this was fairly recently, hopefully it's just liquid left over messing with your key contacts. But a replacement keyboard off ebay is usually pretty easy.

didn't start having issues till the liquid (coffee with a ton of chocolate in it) dried

Just pick up a replacement keyboard. If you let the chocolaty coffee dry in the keys before removing the keyboard and rinsing it out while it was still wet, you'll be chasing sticky/stuck/non-op keys for eternity.

If it has chocolate in it, dip it in really warm water then a full alcohol bath to dry it.

OR, at that point, buy a replacement keyboard.

Re: How to fix a laptop that got coffee spilled on it

Depends on how much your time is worth.

For the cost to replace the keyboard, I'm betting you won't bother disassembling, washing, drying, reassembling, trying it out, potentially doing it all over, etc.

Re: How to fix a laptop that got coffee spilled on it

Ok, I ordered a new keyboard, on ebay for $35, plenty of videos on how to replace, but none for my exact Toshiba Satellite S75-A7222

now, for my next question, I know theres a thread somewhere else and been asked before maybe, I have to run ethernet cable from my barn to my house, total distance by the time I add distance thru walls to the underground conduit, then thru house to where I want the router, will be about 160-175 feet, to a 200ft cable will leave me with a little extra

I notice now that Cat 7 is available, should I go with this ?

    Cat 5.

If you want to use Cat 7, just run Cat 5 and burn a bunch of money in a garbage can outside. It'll get you the same results.

That Cat 5 will run full gig at 365 feet.

You'll be fine with Cat 5e, it can handle Gigabit speeds at the length you're installing. It has a maximum run length of 100 meters. Cat 7 is used for 10 Gigabit networks, which would be fine for you but it's overkill. On your home network equipment you wouldn't be able to tell the difference and it's double the price.

Here ya go: Amazon.com: 200FT (60M) Cat5e Direct Burial Waterproof RJ45 Network RJ45 Patch Cable CMXT Fully Tested Connectors Installed! - Black with Black Boot: Electronics

There's 200' of direct burial Cat 5e with terminations for $40. You can just install a PVC sleeve on each end of the trench where it comes out of the ground and into each building.

so cat 7 is ok ? I'm finding that it not significantly expensive, while 10gig speed is way more than I need now, but I don't ever wanna fish this cable again

    It'll work fine.

If you wanted to save $25, you could get a cheap 200' CAT5e.

    Or do the Cat 7.

The one you posted is not direct burial. Same length Cat 7 direct burial is $80 for a pre-made 200' run.

That said, doesn't matter anyway. Didn't read the part about you already having a pipe in the ground...so you don't need direct burial. Since that's the case, this $13 cable will suit you fine: Amazon.com: Cat5e 200FT Networking RJ45 Ethernet Patch Cable Xbox \ PC \ Modem \ PS4 \ Router - (200 Feet) Black: Computers & Accessories

I'm sure cheaper cable will work fine, I don't know what the future brings, I don't want to fish the wire again, bad enuf I have to fish it at all, I was led to believe that using 4 pairs of the 25 pair cable I already have fished for telephone would work, but discovered it's not twisted pair

Well fuck it then, with that work load don't stop with Cat 7, go Cat 8! No, better yet, Cat 10? Matter of fact, cats are assholes, Dog 6.7 is much better. Who's a good boy?

You should probably go to a 40Gb connection just to be safe.
