Helicopters can't fly, they're just so ugly and rattle so much that the Earth rejects them.

I haven't flow in years. Club I was in went downhill fast cost wise once I got my ticket. I only flew as a licensed current pilot a handful of times before I left the club.

That's awesome. Over the last couple of months I've mentioned to my wife that I want to start working on it. Even if it takes me several years, I won't get there if I don't start. I've studied the manuals several times and have played flight sim since I was 6, so I've always been studying some level of rules. From where I am, it will likely be through Laconia if I start here. Maybe in the next year or two.

I design flight control parts for helicopters on the daily. As much as I am fascinated by the idea and lure of helicopters, I don't know that I would study for rotary over fixed wing. When things go wrong with fixed wing, you often have some amount of glide scope to work with. With rotary, that's a different animal. Even in proper flight conditions you can end up with settling with power or other flight control situations that screw you. I'd love a ride in one, but not sure that's what I want to spend my time in.

I got a ride in a traffic copter over Boston once. It was awesome, but also reiterated that I didn't want to fly one.

They came down at 1500fpm engine out while a light plane will come down at 500fpm and glide roughly a mile for 1000' of altitude.
