Let's see those game camera pictures

While I'm not much of a hunter, I've been excited to set up and get some pictures of nature on the game cameras. I'd feel complete once I get a bear, full picture of the Bobcat, and a 10 point plus buck.

Who else has one set up?

I saw a fox in my yard this morning. No game camera though. Maybe at the new house.

Re: Let's see those game camera pictures

great snaps! we've wanted to get a game camera for a while, tons of nature here ... so far in the yard we've seen black bear, tons of red fox almost daily, moose, river otter, deer, some amazing big birds like owls, heron, etc. there have been a lot of bobcat sightings recently but none in the yard yet ... i think my fav visitors are the two ducks that seem to be a couple. they come every year and hang in our stream/easement on the side of the property.

speaking of game cameras ... a buddy and i were riding out back behind our hood and followed a faint trail trying to connect two areas ... ride up into a small clearing in the middle of nowhere, looking around like WTF is going on here (?) then see a game camera staring at us. hahaa. always wondered who's it is and what the pics looked like

Yes, bobcat in the first picture. There are quite a few around from what I’m seeing on the town FB page.
The red fox is a regular visitor, very healthy looking.

This is inspiration to set one up. We've seen coyote and deer in our backyard, so I've been wanting to set one up and just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Mark - How many cameras are you using and what's the buy-in on something with that type of resolution?

With two bear sightings, a few moose, couple fishers and the rest of the wildlife, it'd be interesting to see what is actually captured in a typical day or week.

Re: Let's see those game camera pictures

my gf wants me to put cameras out, looking for a practical way to have live video 24/7, wireless, seems as though we have trespassers, kids taking a shortcut to the swimming hole out back.
i have some firing range warning signs that I have yet to put up

Re: Let's see those game camera pictures

There's a lot if coyotes in the area. The other night about 3am a coyote was barking about 30' from the house. It took off when I got up and turned on the outside lights. Pretty cool to hear the bark turn into a howl.

I have 3 set up, all different brands as they were gifts. I had bought one a while ago at Bass Pro but it only lasted about 2 years. There's quite a range in price, I've seen them as low as $50, and as high as $500. The most recent camera I set up is where I've been getting the best pictures and the most activity. I'll likely buy another and set it up by the ponds.

I put out 6-10 game cameras a year. Mainly for hunting reasons but the kids like the photos too. These are all older cameras, mainly Moultrie's

Fitz, in that image of the moose, you captures sasquatch!

Saw a coyote in my yard the last two days. He was smaller and reddish and I mistook him for a fox the first time I saw him.

Re: Let's see those game camera pictures

Security cam picked up this youngen.

We had some asshole 4WD renegades that would go through a stream crossing next to a bridge, so they could get muddy before they got back on the road. Not kidding. The stream banks are sandy and it caused a lot of erosion. We posted it No Tresspassing and put a game camera on it. Two douchebags drive over the signs: we gave their reg # to police. At the suggestion of the guys on NES, locked it, which proved to be a good move. We put boulders in place.

Re: Let's see those game camera pictures

This is from a couple years ago, from a neighbor's game camera in their backyard.
It's a good pic, and is significant because the f***er ate one of our cats.

That's the hazards of letting the cats live outdoors as much as they want to.
Kind of like being a motorcyclist -- better quality of life, but you could get killed for it.
I'm sad he's gone, but I'm glad he didn't spend his life looking out the window and wishing.

our cat, can't call it a house cat, cause we let it out, is a very petite bobtail Siamese (lost it's tail in an encounter with a coyote) brought a redtail hawk to our doorstep one day, as big if not bigger than she is. Neighbor's dog, (pitbull)) won't even mess with her
