I also see no problem with this. The people that are disappearing at the hands of the CIA are not random people off the street. They are people that have refused to recognize the warnings and threats, and now it is time to face the consequences of their actions. There is a very simple relationship here:

If you don't want to be grabbed up off the street, beat within an inch of your life, and buried in a landfill, don't shoot at our troops, don't bomb our buildings, etc. If you follow the rules you will be left alone...

For every action there is an equal but opposite reaction - and sometimes a scar...

Because we all know the CIA never makes mistakes

Hell, they were every so successful at assasinating Castro, they must be really accurate with identifying suspects...

But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.

I have to agree with hohum.

Any time the government starts taking away due process, even if you dont mind the reason, watch out. That is what protects EVERYONE's rights.

This isn't so scary as they aren't US citizens and aren't on US soil.

What bugged me is the stats on what they have been doing inside the US.

    5000 people arrested and detained
500 deported *after being cleared of all charges* (We don't deport them until they have been cleared, they stay imprisoned if we are unsure whether they are guilty or not)
0 convictions on *terrorism* related charges.

I think they said somewhere around 400 convictions total, but they are not for terrisom crimes. They will get these guys on credit card fraud, etc..

Stats are on the DOJ website.

That is all people imprisoned on suspected terrorist activity, whether they are US citizens or not.

I don't know if the 500 deported were here illegally or not. I would suspect they were here illegally if they were deported after being cleared of charges.

Basically what has happened is they bring people in on suspected terrorist activity, hold them for a long time, and then they can't seem to get terrorism charges to hold in court.

Whether that means they are arresting and holding way too many people, or the courts are just screwed up, is anyone's guess.
