But yes. I have a newborn at home and I’d rather follow the doctors advice about what temperature the house needs to be in for her.

    And that of course.
children car seats have been around more than 30 years starting in the early 70s in some states, by '1985 car seats were required everywhere in the US (even NH that doesn't require adult seatbelts)

the house I grew up in, we didn't have heat upstairs in the bedrooms, we could see our breath in the morning. but when I was an infant, sleeping was downstairs in heat. an old schoolhouse my dad converted, a BIG school district, it was a 2 room school

In short. Death. Although higher temps are more dangerous than colder.
Also if a newborn gets sick they can’t give them anything for treatment.
That being said shall you choose to become a parent one day, feel free to keep your house at whatever temperature you wish. I promise I will not interfere.

Don’t forget all the miles you had to walk to and from school in 9ft of snow.

Too warm or too cold results in more calories and resources being used to regulate temp than grow. Too cold in particular can also impair the immune system by making fungal infections more possible. If I have to learn something today, I'm sharing the pain with you all!

Let the propane furnace run for about 15 minutes this weekend to make sure everything was operating as it should. Probably do a couple primer burns in the woodstove this week to make everything there is operating as it should as well...

And yes. I literally had to walk uphill both ways to the bus stop when I was a kid. About a mile each way.

The cold weather is supposed to drop early this year. Supposedly we will waiver from extreme cold to mild conditions a few times.

It's gonna be a snowy winter too. Mark my words. It'll be snowy like we used to see when we were kids. It'll be an awesome winter for snow sports.

That argument always kills me. Dad wanted 60, Mom bumped to 65 when she could. I survived just fine as well. Layers and blankets. Kids aren't gonna die if it's not 70s and perfect humidity all the time.

I have the same feeling but I’m only basing it on the rainiest summer ever (in my area) we have ever had.

Literally asked a question and got a defensive answer. I asked for a reason. I got an answer. Whether or not I think it is worth it statistically is one thing, but at least I know the reasoning now.

Woke up a little early this morning and was a little chilly; pulled up the other blanket and went back to sleep. Might almost be time to close the window at night. Or put the comforter back on the bed.
My 19-month-old roommate seemed nice and cozy in his sleep sack.
