HELP! - Wife found nestling and no Wildlife Rehabbers in the area can help

    Need information stat.

Found the bird in the driveway and there are no trees nearby nor any obvious nest. It looks like he may have been brought here by a predator??

We've already gotten the little thing a makeshift nest and given him a blanket. We've called a few wildlife rehabbers and none of them can or will take this on.

    What can we do next?

Put it back outside near the tree line.

You're parents now. Raise him as one of your own. Teach him the ways of the human and he will seek vengeance upon the predator that ate the rest of his family.

Can you use one of those 3-person water balloon slingshots to relocate him back to the tree?

Re: HELP! - Wife found nestling and no Wildlife Rehabbers in the area can help

So something like this happened to me several years back. I found a nest that had fallen out of a tree, had a young bird in it. I found it because the neighbor's cat was stalking around the base of the tree and as a normal response I let my dog chase the cat for demented giggles sake. Then the dog was all about something under the tree. So I put my beer down and went to have a looksee. It was the nest with a little bird. So I grabbed a ladder and put it back up in the tree. It was a baby dove, the parents arrived shortly thereafter and seemed fine with it. All summer, that dove hung out around the patio when I was out there. Haven't seen it since.

You can go online and find some instructions on how to care for the bird, what to feed it, etc. It will most likely die though.

Actually, what Mass Autobahn recommends is that you do your best to mimic the parenting habits of the species. This is typically done by first acquiring a suitable bird appearance prosthetic (pictured). An interpretive dance (young birds love smooth jazz, but who doesn't, right?) is the preferred method of approaching...

We'll get into feeding in the customary momma bird style later on.

Sir. The correct way to prep poultry to fry is to dredge in flour first, then egg wash, then bread crumbs. What are we, savages?

The most helpful crowd ever. We've put the thing out on the balcony. No sense in interrupting natures course.

You are correct. I was hungry and confused at the time of that post.
