I ALWAYS dress in anticipation for colder temps, ESPECIALLY this time of year when the sun sets at 4pm. Hopefully you learn your lesson.

PS -- did you warm that R1 engine up at all?

If you own the bike you should feel comfortable "opening it up"

oh, and you should have used this icon in your thread intro

Broke the cherry on my ski pass today. The bike has been up for about two weeks, mountain bike for a week, and now the skis are out.

take a trip the ski shop and get some of those performance core liners or "hot chilies". thin, warm, and not bulky.

Stowe - basically 1 trail off the quad, decent coverage for mid November, looks good for the rest of the mountain.

I don't know how some of you guys do it. The bike is being put away until the temp warms up alot.

heated grips & electric liners, to ride without them this time of year is foolish

I went out too, but not for 2.5 hours. I only have preforated Joe Rocket gloves, so my hands get cold too. It's not that bad out though.

There was plenty of snow in some parts of VT on Friday....went up to Quebec back and forth in one day and was caught in the middle of a mini snow storm for half the ride.

    yes, it is cold

but there are things you can do:layer up - use a breathable under-garment, a warmth-retaining garment (sweater, fleece, etc.), some type of wind-resistant shell (your jacket should be enough), and seal out ALL the areas that wind can get in by using a balaclava for your face/neck and tightening up all your velcro'd vents

but when it gets below 45, as randyo said, you should get heated gear: grips, jacket, etc.

and don't risk it if it's TOO cold because ice is dangerous and really cold pavement with really cold tires is also dangerous

otherwise, who else loves that free hp? my '95 fzr600 feels like a newer bike!

i just got back home from a few hours of riding. not bad out, except the gloves. every few red lights, i'd put my hands int he fairings near the radiator to use the engine heat to warm up my fingers. besides that, i was fine. didnt even need my balaclava

I got out for about 50 miles yesterday and 30 today on my dual-sport. The Bolton Notch Road was slushy yesterday, with sections at the top that were packed dirty snow (it was only 33 degrees up there in the middle of the day). I was comfortably warm the whole time though.

The trick is to wear way more layers than you think you'll need -- enough so you get pretty hot if you walk around outside for a few minutes. Also, leather gets cold through and tends to pull away warmth, so textile jackets are warmer when it's really cold out. I was wearing long underpants, a polypro long-sleeved undershirt, a hooded sweatshirt, a fleece vest, lined textile pants, a lined textile jacket, a balaclava, thick winter gloves, and a full-face helmet with a Respro Foggy insert (which really helps a lot not only to prevent fogging but also to keep your face warm). After 50 miles I was still warm.
