    hot water

well, seems like my 35 year old Paloma has shit the bed, I thought is may have been inconsistent water pressure coming in due to the bad check valve, but now that that is fixed, the hot water ain't any better, the flow sensor is fucked and I ain't getting hot water at any flow rate now.

these are the heaters I am looking at, not necessarily purchasing from the vendor in the links

    https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rheem-Pe...emTSwu_PMsow7U

    https://www.lowes.com/pd/A-O-Smith-S...AUNOGFYx4KvMdg

    https://www.lowes.com/pd/Rinnai-Prop...C2b7CDzTa1p1Zs

they all proclaim a 10gpm, (or close to it) but that is a 35 rise in warmer climates, I figure a 65 rise (55-120 might get me 6gpm, what I need to fill my 3/4" piping

there are cheaper units, but all these proclaim 0.93% on efficiency, cheaper units use more gas

I'm actually leaning toward the AO Smith, but I have never heard of em like Rheems & Rinnais, the Rinnai is $600 more, and availability may be a problem, local Lowes & HD have the AO Smith and Rheem in stock

we relocated it when we did the plumbing, and maybe 7 or 8 years ago, I ran vinegar thru it a couple days

I went with the Rheem, It seems to be the one that will be the closest to plug & play, it will fit in the space the old one is in, just minor adjustment of the inlet & outlet plumbing, and it was in stock at the Concord HD

    Re: hot water

I caught my son when he wasn't expecting it

freekin Rheem weighs 3x what my old Paloma weighed, took the 2 of us to heft it onto the wall brackets, got rid of the double walled old vent stack that had to terminate above the ridgeline of the roof, for a couple pvc vents going out the side in the sill plate

don't know as there is any, I may have to recycle some vinegar thru it a few years down the road for mineral build up. I did that once with the old heater. My water is pretty soft, slightly elevated in iron and manganese, but takes 15 years to start noticing mineral stains on fixtures, and comes off easily with CLR

that's my water, I could spend the $$$$$ on a water softener, and have zero

I have 2 natural gas navian units. They both do heat and hot water. I service them every year and only one year was one the heat exchangers a little clogged up.

I just got my first gas fill up since I bought a new range 2 months ago, down from $110 to $70, can't wait to reap the efficiency of the new water heater
