my friend had that on her computer and couldn't get rid of it either. I gave her a copy of pest scan pestscan and it worked for her after a few tries. If you know what your doing you can do it yourself from the pestscan website it will install a free program to scan for spyware and tell you where to find the files.

Warning you need to do it in your registry so be careful or you could screw up the whole computer

search google for hijackthis.exe and get it, run it, kill it.

that isregistry entry in your IE initialization files that sets your homepage (no matter what you change it to) to reset to whatever upon user changes. Most spyware checkers skip that portion of things.

I think that pestscan thing is actually spyware too...if Im thinking of the same one? (sorry won't click on that link )

If it wasn't late I'd find the copy and paste it here but if you're still having this problem 24 hours from now I will be sure to find it tomorrow

thanks. i think i got rid of it. it's a series of running hijackthis.exe and about:??? something, short memory here, which includes removing some unregcognize entries in the reg. then hard reset, then do it again in save mode. it actually installed couple of services that you have to disable first.

this is really nasty. it's like whoever wrote these is holding the users as a hostage of Microsoft. well im using Mozilla now.
