That sportival stream took me through the whole fight. It was choppy and lagging up until round 2, after that it was perfect. I loaded it on my phone and cast it to my TV. Wasn't exactly 4k quality but at least I didn't pay 100$ for an hour of it.

I used the ace stream Portuguese link the whole way through...was probably 520p ish...good enough

But my friends ughhh...they told me they had it, then "it stopped working" and scared they would miss it and asked me to face a webcam towards the TV so they could watch it on their phone

But boy was I glad I didn't pay for that!

Pretty much exactly as I expected

Lucky me I was at a post-party party and someone coughed up the $100 to stream it.

Never followed boxing but it was pretty obvious from the get-go that mcgregor dude was gonna wear himself out.

    That boop though

I've always had a love/hate relationship with boxing, but a big part of my love comes from the fact that it has some of the best writers (and writing) in the sports world. To me, here is one example: Why Floyd Mayweather is the last of a kind.

That really was a damn good article.

So the outcome of the fight went as expected, but they didn't get there in the way I called it. Looking back at it, Mayweather's fight plan was as obvious as it comes. That said, in my history of watching Mayweather I didn't expect him to display the aggression that he did in the second half of the fight. Good stuff, entertaining.

Oh, and anyone who says "they stopped the fight too early," you're forgetting the #1 rule in boxing. As stated in the above article Chris posted; walk into any boxing gym in the world as a novice and the first thing they will teach you is "protect yourself at all times."

    Re: Mayweather/McGregor

The fight went pretty much the way I figured it would. Mayweather is about the best defensive fighter ever and McGregor is overly aggressive. I figured Mayweather would sit back and wait for an opportunity. I didn't expect him to let McGregor pound on him so long without taking a shot or two. I did lose respect for Mayweather though with the ducking and turning, he went borderline run away scared vs defensive moves. In wrestling, Mayweather would have been pointed for stalling.

That said, I think it is pretty obvious McGregor would destroy him in the octagon. There is no stand and take a punch in that setting.

Now that the fight is over, I had hoped the hot takes would stop.

    They have not.

    Re: Mayweather/McGregor

As I have said, I think Mayweather is an awful human being and a very good boxer. The whole idea of a 49-0 champion taking on a 0-0 MMA fighter was stupid from the outset, and yadda yadda yadda.

As I have also said, I had hoped the hot takes would end now that the "fight" is over. But alas, they have not. So imagine my pants-shitting surprise to see this gem on Facebook:

Jesus fucking Christ, where do I fucking start?

    1. He stepped in to Mayweather's game for many, many millions of dollars, but ok.
    2. I don't know what "forcing Floyd to attack" means, because it's boxing. You have to actually hit the other guy. It's not, you know, bridge.
    3. McGregor never got knocked down. Ok, I will give that to him, I guess.
    4. Over the first six rounds, Mayweather threw 122 punches. McGregor threw 277! But guess what? 54% of Mayweather's landed, versus McGregor's 25%. McGregor literally threw twice as many punches, and he literally hit Mayweather half as many times. Yes, if you throw literally twice the amount of punches as the other guy, you might win the round. And if you can do that through all 12 rounds, you may well win the bout!
    5. It was 49-0 versus 0-0. Of course it was a fucking mismatch.
    6. First off, this is flat-out wrong. Marcos Maidana threw 858 punches against Mayweather in 12 rounds, and landed 221!. So, you know, double what McGregor did. But what MMA fans fail to recognize is that Floyd, who has gone through his entire career with getting knocked down literally once, realized he could simply take McGregor's punches and not be knocked down -- because McGregor didn't have the power to knock him down.
    7. Well, he's not an amateur, because he got paid, therefore he's a professional. A debut professional, but not a professional.

The one about the "no one has hit him more" is what gets me the most, because at first glance it looks ominous (maybe McGregor is good!), but anyone who is even a casual boxing fan knows there's a difference between landing ineffectual punches and landing effectual ones.

I can't fucking believe I just took the time to write all that.

    Re: Mayweather/McGregor

If Mayweather fought himself, it would be the most boring fuck of a boxing match ever. It would be two guys trying to wear the other down in the first four rounds, 6 total punches would be thrown in that time period. I get boxing is about patience and waiting for the right time, but Mayweather takes that to a whole new level.

    Because winter is coming...

    Mayweather: 122*0.54 = approx. 66 punches landed
    McGregor: 277*0.25 = approx. 69 punches landed

McGregor landed more punches. Not half as many.

So, they earned more than two million dollars per punch landed, each.

Nice work if you can find it, fleecing the fookin suckas!

McGregor landed more punches. Not half as many.
You're right, I was comparing their percentages landed, not the number landed. My bad.
