    Meaningful gift for a veteran

I have a good buddy who Iíve known since 1999.

We were seniors when 9/11 happened.

We all talked about joining but he actually did.

He was army infantry in Iraq.

And came back a different person.

    And still is struggling.

Often when we hang out, we drink, and he gets gloomy.. and I try to tell him heís beating himself up too much...

I want to give him a meaningful gift.

    Any ideas?

Spend time with him while not drinking. Put it on your schedule. Or just a check-in phone call.

Army culture might have changed, but I doubt it. Combat Infantrymen have to be tough. Admitting you are struggling with emotions, are depressed or feeling pain about past events is perceived as weakness.

By speaking with him about the many things you and he have to be thankful for, along with the challenges of day to day living, you can help him see the bright side of the future.

Perhaps you give him an experience as a gift ?

Take him deep sea fishing , get some concert tickets for you both , rent some jet ski's ?

My list could go on and on , but you get the idea.

Simple, kind gestures such as those go a long way in my opinion .

Shows him you truly are his friend and that there are a lot of adventures yet to be had .

    Great suggestion.

Do strip clubs have gift cards?
