I spent a few hours with a very high level exec for a German brand recently. We got to talking how I'm a BMW fan in a lot of ways but I chose a Camry as the work car because reliability and low operating cost was more important than driving dynamics for that car. He just kinda shrugged and non-chalantly said cars break, they get fixed. This was just after telling me he was recently stranded on the side of the road after a travel day from hell. Priorities I guess.

Did the German car thing. Won't be back any time soon....and I say this as someone with a secret crush on Porsche 997 and 991. The wail of those flat 6's makes me happy in all the right places.

Had a chance to drive a BMW M5, Lexus V8, Carrera 4, and Cayman at back-to-back track sessions.

The Cayman was about perfect. Really high cornering limits, smooth ride, precise steering, great shifter, great brakes. Almost perfectly balanced in every way. And now they have a GT-S.....

I will own a Cayman... someday

Cayman is a well balanced machine for sure. It's the only P car I could truly see myself interested in if it were in my realm of possibility.

The newer M5s have intoxicating power but man are they porkers when it's time to turn and stop :(

I have a 135i for a daily driver. The responsiveness doesn't compare to the 1g miata. I'm half considering selling it for one. It has to be the NA though because like its ben said, big guys don't fit in more modern ones.

Thing about a Cayman is it actually makes a good daily driver. Lots of trunk space, no annoying turbo lag, pretty nice ride over bumps, etc.

Any miata buddies have a soft top frame or complete soft top for sale? Laying around collecting dust?
