The NA has the most headroom, the seats were mounted lower in the car and there is also more clearance under the steering wheel. The NB is the tightest fit, NC and ND models have identical leg and headroom measurements, though the seating compartment is a bit wider in the ND.

You can come sit in my NB if your kid ever plays my place of employment in her sports matches. Hell, might even let you take it for a rip

Surprisingly, the new Miata isn't getting great reviews. Though suspension issues can be fixed aftermarket?

The Fiata seems to have its own share of flaws though.

What are good Miata forums? Is there a NE time trial / autocross oriented website? I used to do time trials with Corvettes of Mass, may get back into it.

miata.net used to rule them all for general miata-ness. My goal was to learn tips and tricks about the car, I never got into auto-x.
I did get one cat to leave me a mint set of OE blowse speakers on my front porch to replace the blown set that came in my car. Solid people. Likely never adequately thanked them..

Finally got around to watching this. Disappointed in their comments on the ND. And equally baffled by their ergonomics concerns with the NB. While under 6' tall, I'm a larger example of the human race and I fit very nicely into the drivers seat of the '99 I had. Always felt that car fit me like a glove, which was a big part of the appeal. But early NBs are now 17+ years old. And in New England that means they are more part of the water table than drivable. NC kind of rub me the wrong way. NDs are dead sexey and I would love to add one to the garage when I make my millions in a few years. Lame that they don't handle like a Miata should.

Com is the only group I'm aware of that is deep into time trials around here.

Owned a NA for about a year. Was one of the most fun cars I have ever owned. Throw a loud ass exhaust on it and it's an absolute blast to rip around town

I got the wires for the MS db37 all connected to my oem harness connector. I just have the do the ms3x one, so another 20 wires. Making slow progress but progress no less. Getting better with the soldering aspect of it. It's been years since I've soldered anything so I'm pretty out of practice. I'm glad I and working on this first as I don't really need to worry about getting anything too hot yet.

I have a p0401 I'm chasing that's been miserable. Cleaned the IM, EGR, rerouted the vacuum line, I've swapped the MAP sensor, everything I can think of and I've still got this code. Driving me nuts. I need to get this turd inspected.

Easy things first. Did you clear the CEL with a code reader after doing all that work?

In MA, it's 2004. Now my truck and my hairdresser car both never need to pass ODB2 checks again

It felt SO good putting the big injectors back in and realizing I won't ever have to put the stocks ones in again.

Yes. I'm not a rookie lol. I have a scantool, it's been cleared and has come back after a few different attempts. I'm going to start back at square one and move the vacuum line back to the oem position after cleaning the port to get flow back. Everyone swears by moving it but I'm not convinced. Then I'm going to try this all again. Probably work on it tonight.

    Re: Miatas.

So I drove a first generation Miata yesterday. In the post I have tried second and third generation cars and I didn’t fit. I wasn’t expecting it to be much different with the first gen but I was wrong. The car was tight but my head didn’t hit the top and I could operate the pedals. The Miata has always been on my short list but I never thought that I could fit. After driving it the car was everything I thought it would be and more. I can’t believe how good it was.

    Re: Miatas.

    How tall are you? Inseam?

There was a Miata in my run group behind me for a while. He actually gained on me in the uphill portion at Palmer, which I didn’t expect, then I lost him downhill, also opposite what I expected. That was Novice run group and my first time on the track with the car.

Going into the middle group next time and there will probably more, better prepped and more experienced drivers then.

How is the acceleration of these cars? They are super light weight but with a small 4 cylinder. The closest I've owned is a Bmw z4 3.0si. Great car. Could have used a little more power to be perfect.

NB is pretty infamous for having sucky headroom for taller guys. I never noticed. Upside of being somewhere between short and meh. I think it is all in the seats. Cannot believe the NB is any shorter than the NA.

Acceleration is what it is. This is one of those cars that you hold WFO until the 0.2 sec before the limiter and slam shifts home while rowing through town on a random Wednesday. You know, just 'cause.

People who bitch about the BRZ/FRZ not having enough sack for them should just skip the Miata. Not what they're after.

"Could use a little more power" is the standard mantra.
