I pulled all the carpet out to work on a musty smell issue. Then realized I cant get Lysol spray or anything similar right now. Guess I'm driving a racecar for the foreseeable future.

Haven you driven it without the carpets?

I’m always curious the difference when I see wranglers sans carpet.

Yup. All the sound-deadening material is on the bottom of the carpets, so you hear every grain of sand kicked up from the front tires.

    What is that thing?

I am at the upper limit of fit in all directions. My head doesn’t hit the top, but I’m still shopping for a seat lowering bracket.

Just a spacer that extends the steering wheel ~2 inches towards your chest. Lets you retain the stock wheel/airbag. I got it because I felt like the reach to the wheel was uncomfortable with the seat all the way back. After install I found that it also helps tremendously with leg room as your knees fit more behind the wheel instead of under it. No more hitting your knuckles on your thighs, or hitting your left thigh on the wheel when using the clutch. I was on the fence about my NB until I put this on. Totally transformed the feel of the driver's seat.

The wheel feels fine. Mine has a telescopic wheel, and with it all the way back there is no knee issue.

50k later (115k total) and I've had my first mechanical.

Radiator (17 years old and highly stressed due to the turbo) has started to weep around the seams.

    What a piece of shit.

I have been looking for a deal for a turbo Miata for 3-ish years now.
The good ones are expensive. The shitty rusty ones are also too expensive.

Mazda Miata LS Conversion - $50,000 (Athol)

    Miatas.-00m0m_is2rdjbpihiz_0qe0du_600x450-jpg

1997 Mazda Miata LS3 Conversion. Car is in excellent condition. It has an LS3 Chevrolet Crate Engine, 376 cu. In. 6.2 L. The car was completely stripped down, new insulation, brand new GM wiring, LS7 air snorkel intake, V8 Roadsters LSX subframe kit, aluminum oil pan and driveline kit. It also has a Getrag Stage 2 Cadillac rear end, Boss Frog arm fender braces, custom aluminum radiator, Moroso oil/water separator, Tremec T56 Magnum 6 speed transmission, Hydramax hydraulic clutch, Wilwood 11” drilled brakes with stainless steel lines; Flyin Miata custom stainless steel headers and exhaust,
Sounds like a nice build, $50k seems a bit steep to me but i'm an NC guy, the BAT one a few post up seems like a deal...

Seen that car in person. It’s nice, but I agree. Price is too steep.

    Re: Miatas.

Seems that $50k is probably about right for a properly built LSX Miata. This one has a new crate motor, complete driveline cost was probably between $20-25k. Easily another $10-20k in parts and labor for the build.
