Yeah, I just don't get it. Seems like there are 500 other options out there for cheap 'hoon machine' platforms, probably for less. It's been done, you aren't unique, you've just ruined another Miata.

Anyway, you know what opinions are like..

    Re: Miatas.

I think with a car that size, 200-250hp is an ideal trade off of power but still lighthearted fun. I've driven a stock NB, it was fun, but I could only imagine how much MORE fun a lightly turbo'd one would be. Remember, this will be a toy only, I have my truck for boring driving.

SRTie4k, you are right, VVT removed for the Mazdaspeeds....strange. More reliable I imagine under boost?

VVT removed because they used the early NB BP-4W engine that didn't have it.

the miata engine is bullet proof... i beat mine hard for 2 years... 250hp and just changed the oil... the 180Hp one had 180K miles and ran like a champ... for many years.... do the turbo....

The MR2 was such an awesome car, I like the early 90s turbos a ton and have been lusting for one for a while, but they are wayy pricier than I'd like to spend on a toy

    Re: Miatas.

The MR-2 is neat. And it is without a doubt the kind of car I wish Toyota still made these days... although the FRS/BRZ/whatever is a really good consolation prize.

Although I hear the MR-2 is a BITCH to work on. I imagine that is pretty true of most mid-engine cars. Especially the small ones.

    Re: Miatas.

I've only had this a short time but from what I've read on spyderchat anything with the motor can be a long process. So far it has been a blast. Just ordered all new strut's,mount's and brakes all around but that's all she needed. 35 mpg you cant beat that either!

    35?! What year/engine? I saw a 29-30 MPG average out of my '99 1.8L.

Quite a nice example, although pretty expensive for an 8 year old car. It's $1000 over retail according to NADA.

    Re: Miatas.

Tell you whut, these MSM coil overs and sway bars are quite a bit stiffer than the stock NB's. harsher than the SE I drove, but not terrible.

Now to find a hard top for the winter......

    Re: Miatas.

As it sits right now, I have a few issues to work out.

There is a slow leak in one tire, but they are all nearly brand new.

Is due for a timing belt.

    Clutch needs to be flushed.

    Now for the real question:

BEGI Stage 2 kit or FM Little Enchilada?
