    Military/Naval cadets?

I have been thinking of putting my oldest daughter in the cadets. I think it would help her with discipline and setting goals. I was in the naval cadets when I was younger. The thing is, I have made a search on the internet for it, and the naval cadets are located anywhere but near Springfield. Do you guys know if they have other cadets such as the one on land? In quebec we had the air cadets, the land cadets, and the naval cadets. Is it the same here? And where do I look (website or something)?

She is turning 11 in August, naval cadets are for 11-17 yrs old kids...but as I said..no naval cadets anywhere near us.

You are on my ignore list but I felt the need to see if you had something worth a fuck to say. As usual not a goddamned thing.

I say how about you spend more time being a parent and giving your kid some dicipline and less on the interweb. Therefor not needing a third party to do your parenting.

    Thank you that is all.

There are usually ROTC programs and there may be a civil Air patrol in your area, Ask you local school.

+1, or recruiter. Once through ROTC you can enlist as an officer, if it's still the same as it was years ago.

ROTC stands for Reserve Officers' Training Core. It is a program set up in colleges that trains people how to be officers in their respective branch of the military. Lots of cadets get full scholarships in return for a 4 year commitment to stay in the military. Certain positions require more time like pilots and certain specialists. When you graduate from the program, you receive a commission and enter the military as an officer as opposed to being enlisted.

For younger kids there are junior ROTC programs. Talk to a recruiter near you. They will be more then happy to go over everything with you.

I gave the Air Force ROTC program a try for a year and a half but in the end they had too many issues with my weight even though I passed every one of their physical tests. In the end it was a fun experience and I would have tried to be a pilot but they were looking for skinny bean-pole body types.

She doesn't need to be "straighten out"...LOL She's a good kid, has good grades, etc. I just think cadets and military training is a good place to go for many different reasons. I think it would also give her nice opportunities; learning cool stuff, making new friends, seeing places, experiencing things that she won't get anywhere else, maybe a sense of belonging to something special, etc.

She's a leader, and a little rebellious. Which to me is an extremly good thing because no one will ever walk on her, but at the same time I want her to use that in a positive and productive way, and learn that "rules" needs to still be followed. I tried Girl Scouts....she was bore over there...lol She needs more challenges to feel satisfied. I think cadets could be just the thing for her.

    Military/Naval cadets?

I was in the Civil Air Patrol for a few years when I was younger, just make sure it's something that SHE want's to do...there were a few kids there that were being forced, and they were always in shitty moods and pissing everyone else off. Also, JROTC (Junior) programs are usually run through schools, so if they're not at her school or a school near hers....you just may be SOL. Hope that helps.

Don't thank me. May be hard for you to believe, but my post has very little to do with you in particular. I've seen a few posts like that directed at other people too. I'm fuckin' tired of it...

True. Can I be honest? I ran away from home because my parents (my dad) forced me to stay in the cadets, and I wanted out (well there was also other serious reasons). I saw the cadets as another way for them to get rid of me on Saturday mornings. After months of wanting to kill everyone and him not wanting to let me out, I lashed out. Today, I see I could have used this place as an opportunity and an exile from home, not a punishment. I just didn't see it that way at the time.

If she doesn't like it, I won't force her. But before she says she doesn't like it, I want her to try. Then if she thinks she's miserable, it will be her choice not to go back.
