    MotoGP Barcelona 2017

Next year I will be going to Barcelona for the GP race, and was wondering if anyone had been or has any suggestions?

I went to Misano Italy last year for the GP and it was quite interesting and a bit chaotic, so I'm trying to gather what info I can get early!

    In the same boat.

Will be flying out Friday night and catching the Catalan GP that weekend. Looking like from Barcelona center to the track is about an hour on public transit. Other than that what to do what do.

Been to Barcelona but not for the GP. Was there for about 8 days for work, but got a few days of touristy stuff in. I can put together a brief summary if interested...

If you could that would be great! I have a couple destinations (GP being an advantage), but anything you could recommend

Here are some places to visit/walk around (the city is very walkable)

Gothic Quarter (Barri Gotic) (Barcelona, Spain): Top Tips Before You Go - TripAdvisor
    The Sagrada Familia
Santa Maria del Mar - Barcelona's Cathedral of the Sea - Barcelona Lowdown
    Catedral de Barcelona
Bareloneta La Barceloneta - Visit Barcelona
    and the Med beach there

Las Ramblas is crowded with tourists and merchants. Depending upon your taste it may be worth walking the length (once).

Try to find “local” alleys and plazas away from touristy places for really good local tapas. Since my trip, I am now addicted to Iberian Ham I am surprised acid-reflux disease is not rampant in Barcelona/Spain as they typically do not eat dinner until around 10 PM.

We ate at numerous restaurants while there. Most notable dining experience for me was http://www.gruptravi.com/en/can-travi-nou/. (was a site location for Vickie Christina Barcelona movie fwiw.)

In the evenings you will find street merchants selling knock-off goods off of blankets on the sidewalks around the marina.

    Olympic venues such as http://www.estadiolimpic.cat/en/

A visit would not be complete without seeing a game or at least the stadium for FC Barcelona https://www.fcbarcelona.com and FCB pro
shops are all over the city.

Hop on-off bus tours have several circuits covering different areas of Barcelona. Recorded narration about tourist sites is available and included in the price of the ticket if you wish (earbuds are provided). I found these helpful to get an overview of the city and help me focus on where I wanted to spend my time during the visit.

    https://www.barcelonabusturistic.cat/en/hom
    http://www.barcelonacitytour.cat/en/

At both tour bus sites, you can find route maps and see what parts of the city each loop covers.

I was forewarned before my trip to be careful about pick-pocketing, but did not experience anything. I did see a lot of people wearing backpacks backwards (with the pack on their chest) for this reason.

Later today, I will try to post a few pics from my visit.
