    How's your medulla oblongata????

Three intrusions on the cervical spine OUCH. Look at the CSF at the base of the skull all pooled up.

Does this person have any paresthesia in the arms or hands? or paralysis? How is their general condition?

I am with Tomato... He beat me too it.

Arm pain from a cervical disc herniation is usually accompanied by numbness/tingling and runs to the fingers...

What is that like c4- c7 with pinched nerves?

A Pinched nerve at C5 can cause shoulder pain, deltoid weakness, and possibly a small area of numbness in the shoulder. On exam, a patient’s biceps reflex may be diminished.

A Pinched nerve at C6 can cause weakness in the biceps and wrist extensors, and pain/numbness that runs down the arm to the thumb. On exam, the brachioradialis reflex (mid-forearm) may be diminished.

A Pinched nerve at C7 can cause pain/numbness that runs down the arm to the middle finger. On exam, the triceps reflex may be diminished.

Nerves tend to heal slowly. The nerves heal from the top down, and depending on how much damage is done at the time the nerve becomes pinched, it may take weeks to months for the nerve to fully to heal.

Treatment of neural impingement is directed at relieving the pain and then allowing the nerve to heal on its own. Nerves need both inflammation and pressure to be painful, so either relieving the inflammation or the pressure can relieve the pain.

    cervical pinched nerves

    What did the Doc say?

    EDIT:

Looking closer... did you ever break your neck?? I am better with Xrays but the back of the spine looks messed up.

Judging by your posts on here, opening pickle jars is something you greatly enjoy.

Degs, that looks like the MRI of a proper, damaged motorcycle racer. Hope you're ok and relatively healthy.

    Thanks, I'm fine.

I have had some tingling and numbness in my left arm for about 3 months. I have had loss of feeling and RLS in my left leg for 5 years, ever since I threw my RC51 and myself 160' over the side of a mountain in North Carolina. After a brief chopper ride (not Orange county type, whirlybird type) they said at the time that I "may" have a neck fracture, definitely had a small pelvic fracture and some serious subdural haematoma to the back and sides etc etc. The usual "hitting 6 or 7 trees on the way down" type stuff.

Anyhoo, my doc will tell me later this week whether I'm on "the rack" or if I need surgery or whatever.

P.S I'm in absolutely no pain whatsoever.

The spinal fluid pooling at the base of my cranium is cause for alarm though. Hmm, luckily, I'm lifelong friends with one of the best Neurosurgeons in the world.

Thanks Doc, nice link. It seems to me that since there appear to be no bone spurs, I definitely did the damage through the 20-30 head impacts from moto accidents and crashes over the years. I also had a serious concussion when I was about 16 in a rugby scrum collapse and 12 200lb plus ment fell on me.

I have gone through 14 helmets, anyone beat that?

    derek

I don't see that but as I said I am not as good with an MRI.

+1 doc there seems to be some spinus process missing

DEGSY, the closest I can come is a weak half to those stats IMPRESSIVE ......i think

Just something to remember about nerve tissue, it's not like bone or skin where the cells of this type regenerate. Yup it sure does start at the brain and "heal" it's way down the old pathway.

There have been some studies done to try and prove that nerve cells do regenerate, but I am still a skeptic. I have seen cases where a torn or severed / broken nerve has eventually reestablished a connection with scar tissue. It was a sensory nerve and not a motor function (and the sense never returned back to full strength)

this is part of the whole stem cell research thing. Scientist's extract cerebral spinal fluid from embryos they take cells that have no designation yet ( these cells are abundant during gestation ) and then inject the right hormone and produce a specific type of cell (brain, nerve, kidney, heart, etc..... ). This just so happens to be part of the pro side of the Stem cell research. CLONING is just the NEXT step.

That is what I see... Although there are 3 areas on the spine that look pinched off c4,c5 and c7 I believe.

And I don't know so much about the "pooling". That might just be a normal area that is a little wider than normal I really have no clue in that area.

The "Missing spine" was what I thought was weird. Well that and the Hump.

Degsey... STAND UP STRAIGHT! Your posture sucks.
