    Nantucket?

A few couples have rented a house on Nantucket toward the end of July.

Any suggestions? It looks like bringing a Grom over may get expensive. What if we were to load 3 scoots/Groms onto a truck and drove that onto the ferry?

I'd take bikes only. Someone ne will have to verify it's still true but motorcycles loaded first with the bicycles, were first off, and didn't need a reservation.

Motorbikes or bicycles? I'm looking at the ferry site and it says any vehicle under 17' is $200 one way. That can't possibly apply to motos too, can it?

    Fare Information - Steamship Authority

Farther down the page: this time of year a motorcycle is $67.50 one way and a moped is $43.

Cars require a reservation and those can be hard to get. Just checked some random weekday dates in late July and there are still a few vehicle spots available: where you park it is a different story. We found the police and locals quite motorcycle friendly, "You can park that here."

"Not traveling with a vehicle? You don't need a reservation — just come to the terminal. Check the schedules now."

    FAQs - Steamship Authority
Does the Steamship Authority also carry motorcycles and other items?

Yes. Fares for the transportation of motorcycles, bicycles, mopeds, golf carts, surfboards (including wind surfboards), kayaks and other large items are established at our discretion. Tickets for the transportation of such items can be purchased on the day of sailing at any ferry terminal.
So times have not changed on Cape Cod.....

    That's awesome. I didn't see that. Guess I didn't look hard enough.

Any suggestions for things to do, places to go? What to avoid?

Cisco Brewery and the Southwestern Beach.

And go get trashed with the Bros at night. Don't fight it, just accept it, you're on Nantucket Island.

So this is going down this weekend. Is it better to do bicycles or scooters around the place?

    Re: Nantucket?

    Easy question, simple answer.
Depends on your pain threshold, scoooters tend to gain a bit more speed for the impact and slide.
Bicycles you're more likely to simply fall over, or get hit by others on scooters.
Meet people, make friends and get rides.
The locals are professional functioning drunks and willing to help others for a drink.
Enjoy the Gray Lady, fun times.
