I don't know about you, but when I think of patriotism, I think of the NFL.

“It’s never been a place for advertising that could be considered by some as a political statement,” [NFL Spokesman] McCarthy told Army Times.

But players kneeling was avowedly a political statement. Ye reap what Ye sow.

Highlighting racism in America is an important cause: done in a way that alienated the very people they wanted to engage.

The NFL agreed to donate $100 million over seven years to causes. Goodell’s five year contract is valued at $200 million. Shows where the priorities are.

The people that are alienated by players' protests are, frankly, the people whose minds were unlikely to be swayed.

They could be swayed if "those thugs" could protest in an appropriate manner. I.E. in your house preferably in a closet and quieter...NO QUIETER!

Then PM me as there’s nothing I posted to indicate such so you’ve completely misunderstood the post.

The NFL is an entertainment business and they’ve made some poor management decisions that have cost them money. This is another.

You seemed to indicate they weren’t doing enough to help any causes you deem important. Like veterans who don’t understand that taking a knee isn’t about them and what they may or may not have done.

The anthem was not connected to the military until the NFL started accepting money from the military who wanted to use the NFL as a recruiting platform.

whether you love him or loath him, you gotta watch the GOAT every time he's in a playoff game... you just got to.

You will NEVER see another guy win like Tom Brady does in our life time. If Tom Brady was on another team, i'd still be watching him.

It will be interesting to see how they do with thier second half comebacks next year when the OC and DC are replaced. I'm a big believer in Belichick but have to figure he can't do it alone during the half time breaks.

I hear ya, but I bet it is Ernie Adams that comes up with the halftime (or earlier) adjustments and the coaching staff simply calls plays and coverages based on his data about the opposing team. He's supposedly a real-time scouting savant.

I wouldn't be surprised if you see his son take one of those position, Stephen's a safetys coaches already. Who better to groom than one of his son? Also his other son is a scout in the front office.

but... I also read an article on Boston.com where the writer (Eric Wilber) thinks if Belichick wins the SuperBowl in 2 weeks he gonna bow out. see ya later. Then it will be just Brady left.

there is definittly something to these weird stories we've been hearing, then theres Kraft saying this last week... "“There’s a lot of strong-minded people, but when you have something good going, everybody’s got to get their egos checked in and try to hold it together,” team owner Bob Kraft said during an interview on NFL Network last weekend, a statement that sounded somewhere in between a goodbye and a mandate for either Belichick or Brady."

the article : Is Bill Belichick going to retire after Super Bowl LII?

I heard Belichick is going to coach the University of South East Montana footbal team next year. Expectations are that they'll be national champions by 2020.

When Belichick first got to Phillips Academy, he looked into one of the dorm rooms, saw a guy there, walked in and introduced himself. He noticed the guy had a Latin text and was practicing verb conjugation. “I’m so out of my league.”

He introduced himself, and Ernie asked, “Are you any relation to Steve Belichick?” Steve Belichick, an assistant coach at USNA, had self published 200 copies of a book on scouting. Ernie had one. Ernie later got Belichick his job with the Giants.

The rest, as they say, is history.
