    Re: NFL Patriots/Eagles Superbowl

    I was there....

Some years ago I read a book on nonlinear mathematics. This is used for many complex predictive tasks. So I sent a copy to Ernie.

He’d already read it, although for an even more obscure reason.

    ESPN.com: Who is this guy?

Ernie was the one who diagrammed the stack Seattle used, he’s briefly in the video starting 32:00 and shows the flash card they used to practice it at 36:00.

but... I also read an article on Boston.com where the writer (Eric Wilber) thinks if Belichick wins the SuperBowl in 2 weeks he gonna bow out. see ya later. Then it will be just Brady left.

there is definittly something to these weird stories we've been hearing, then theres Kraft saying this last week... "“There’s a lot of strong-minded people, but when you have something good going, everybody’s got to get their egos checked in and try to hold it together,” team owner Bob Kraft said during an interview on NFL Network last weekend, a statement that sounded somewhere in between a goodbye and a mandate for either Belichick or Brady."

the article : Is Bill Belichick going to retire after Super Bowl LII?
that seems to be some reporter just spewing bs

Yeah, it was. 20 years ago people were somehow equating not standing and revering the flag during the national anthem as something that shows disrespect for the military. I really stare in wonderment at the average American psyche sometimes.

If you want to belittle someone for protesting something, just involve the military and children. This is why last week the statement of the week was "Democrats are deliberately starving our military and children for illegal immigrants" and 40% of the country fell for it hook, line and sinker.

We have a superbowl squares thing going here in the office and one of the employees here (who is a real idiot, incidentally) said "I won't do this any more and I wont watch the superbowl either, because "they" won't stand for the national anthem".

I'm not a huge football fan, but I watch the playoff games and I'll definitely watch the superbowl because the Pats are in it.

Was told at work the other day that kneeling during the national anthem was literally the same as peeing on an actual flag. I say literally because I brought up the angle of "come on man it's not the same as actually peeing on the flag". Nope same fucking thing.

Yes, he’s offended because they don’t show appropriate respect for these symbols of our nation and our ideals. One of those oft-stated ideals is personal freedom. So this dude is offended because people exercised their freedom to act as they wish towards the flag that is the symbol of acting as you wish....

Very few of my veteran friends think this is a big deal, whether Vietnam era draftees or more recent volunteers.

Sure it is. There’s even a name for it: “Protected Speech.” The government shouldn’t be able to silence protest, ever.

Pee away, sit away, fly a tattered flag from your pickup upside down, buy a flag pattern chair, put your gf in a Stars and Stripes bikini: as long as you vote in elections.

My favorite people are those who are against kneeling but happily fly the Confederate flag.

    Re: NFL Patriots/Eagles Superbowl

The pink stripes notation became a meme: #pinkstripes. Belichick claimed not to know, and Ernie declined to answer when asked by a reporter. I suspect it has nothing to do with football, for the simple reason that the rest of the board is erased. Those are the kinds of things that I don’t usually ask them, because if I don’t know the answer, I can’t tell anyone. Belichick and I talk Lacrosse. He coached U10 Lax in Weston for a while.

30 second ad in the SuperBowl is $5 million.

Sports radio dude last week was talking about the franchise. The Krafts paid $175 million for a Patriots and folks thought they’d substantially overpaid. (They’d paid $75 million for the stadium). In 2000 the estimated worth was a little above the NFL average of of $423 million

Today the franchise is worth between $3.2 and $3.7 Billion, second only to the Cowboys. Average franchise value is $2.3 Billion. $2,300,000,000. Wow.
