Aeroness depends where you measure on the Chewbacca scale.

Smooth legs are most beneficial when you need to scrub road rash wounds, but we mostly all do it because we all do it. Ladies dig it too.

OK, spill it. Are the wool undies an entire replacement for bib shorts? As of now I only have one set of kit, this cheap-o Amazon Prime offering from Sponeed. I need to get a bit more riding clothing for riding back-to-back days or twice in the same day. I'm not really about that Power Ranger life but I'm not too proud. Its fine on the bike, but sometimes I want to ride somewhere (the BAR!) and maybe not look like a total asshole while I'm having a beer.

Anyway, I'm about to spend a few bucks on another set or two of gear. Group, are wool undies + shorts what the fast guys are running?

    Re: Official non-motorized motorcycle thread.

Mountain bike shorts are pretty trendy these days. Its basically a pair of shorts you wear over a pair of underwear with a build in chamois. I really enjoy a set of Troy Lee Designs I have and I wouldn't hesitate to wear them out to a bar. My grundle is pretty road hardened at this point, but if I wear a shitty chamois it really doesn't like it. The TLD works great and I have many 5+ hour days in them.

You can also just buy the chamois underwear and wear any shorts over them.

Or just buy some wool undies and raw dog it without any padding. Guess it all depends your tolerance and how far you're riding.

Many years ago when I was in TACP selection training, we would PT in a sand pit. Each candidate had their own 8x4 ft pit and we were in them for hours sweating our asses of on the Florida panhandle and would come out looking like sugar cookies. We would usually have about 15 minutes to shower and eat breakfast before class. Point being, nearly all of us shaved our legs because it meant you could jump in the shower and wash the sand off super quick and leave more time to finish chow.

And yes, the ladies did indeed dig it.

    I wear the spandex shorts.
I've received unsolicited invitations to please not wear it ever again.
    Yet, I persist.

Headed up to Bridgton, ME tonight with road bike and motorcycle.

Plan is bicycle in the morning, motorcycle most of the day, run upon return, repeat 2x. Sunday Iíll either run or cycle in the morning, grab a quick 100 miles on the motorcycle and be on the road by noon.

Last gasp of summer before things get busier.

Celebrated my 30th with 30 miles last night, my longest to date. Definitely confirmed that I have some comfort issues to work out on this bike.

Gooch and the heels of my hands. But mainly the gooch. At some point I will go in for a proper fit and try some new saddles. The hand pain makes me think my seat is too far forward, but I already feel pretty stretched out, so I will probably move the seat back and try a shorter stem too.

You can roll the stem up which will raise the hoods and bring them closer to you and up. If the stem is angled down you can flip it. If the spacer stack isn’t maxed out you can remove spacers from above the stem and put them below. These will all get the handlebars closer/higher/angled differently. Lots of variables to play with and get the right feel.

If you’re getting gooch’d then your sit bones are probably not on the meat of the saddle. Look for the impression of your ass cheeks on the saddle, it should be near the back of the seat, if not move it forward. A friends helped me on this with my MTB last year and it was a game changer. I haven't really messed with my roadie seat yet, I've been getting gooch'd on it so it's probably time to make an adjustment there as well. It seems that outside of seat height, your ass is going to locate itself where it wants to in relation to the cranks and what your body wants to do for a pedal stroke. Rather than trying to move your ass to where you think it should be, move your seat to where your ass wants to be.

    Re: Official non-motorized motorcycle thread.

I guess my budget is expanding. I'm looking now at a 2019 cannondale trail 7 or a 2019 trek roscoe 6.

    https://www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/b...olorCode=black

    https://www.cannondale.com/en/USA/Bi...6-0b1f4ac76854

Thoughts? Anyone got anything comparable for sale? lol. I like the cannondale, I looked at it in person today. The new 7s are much cheaper but the 2019 has the tapered head tube like the more expensive ones. Not sure why the 2020 trail 7s are such a downgrade. I guess the trail 7 is lighter than the trek, both have hydraulic brakes, both are coil spring forks but I'm already at about 4x my original budget. They look basically identical and there is a lbs for both brands for service if I need it.

Friday after the bicycle ride, I put 250 on the motorcycle. Mt Wash, Bear Notch, Kanc and then south and eventually northeast back to Bridgton.

Saturday another 250 on the motorcycle, east to Manchester, ME, then down to Freeport for a little wandering around, lunch at Bentley’s (never been, it was interesting) then backroads to Bridgton. After I got back I ran 5 miles.

Sunday was just 20 miles at 15mph on the bicycle and then pack up and head home.

All in all a great little break.

Anyone have any routes around Loudon? I’ll be up there for the weekend, taking my cross bike.

I don't think he is on here but Mark Brown rides most mornings. I'm tempted to bring some pedal power to warm up.

If you do that though, you’ll miss the first guy starting his bike in the morning, hours before practice, for no fucking reason at all.

    It will be a motard.

Routes by Loudon kinda suck AFAIK. 106 is perfectly safe to ride on, just boring AF. Check out Strava heatmaps.

Plotted a route on Ride that has a few miles of gravel mixed in.

Went back to Village Park yesterday even, that place just keeps going and going. I thought I might have seen 1/4 of it the other night, after 2 rides I've seen maybe 10% of it. There are some really excellent trails out there, what a nice bonus to have this place 10 minutes from the house.

That's my go-to since it's close. Been getting a little bored of it lately and trying to learn more of Big River lately. But Village Park is still a great spot. Lemme know if you want a navigator sometime. But it's not huge. I have a suspicion you might be under-estimating how much you've seen.

Right, so I think I have most of the arteries covered, but everywhere I look there are branch trails I haven’t touched. I’ll be there Wednesday about 6:30 PM if you want to join me.
