    He was on here too.

He always reminded me of someone famous, but I can’t put my finger on it. Kerry King?

Aiming to do a ride Sunday morning from Thompson, CT to Rehoboth, MA (my house.) Should be about 50 miles, mix of gravel and pavement. Anyone want to join? I can help out with the one-way logistics if so.

    Re: Official non-motorized motorcycle thread.

I'm loving cx. Im terrible at it because of my endurance, but I still enjoy the hell out of of it and it is reigniting my love of bikes. I was casually starting to research new roadie options for the season next year so I can train better for cx.
I stumbled on a used 2019 Cannondale Synapse SE carbon "105." I put that in quotes because the current owner upgraded to Ultegra components. I can probably get it for half of the original new list price.
I was not searching for a carbon bike, but here it is. I am not a small guy, but I am comfortably under the owners manual max weight.
Everything I read about this bike says its fantastic. Anything I should be concerned about? Or should I try to jump on this?

Everyone needs a good ass packing every now and then. Today I packed ass and then had my ass packed. All in one ride.

    Re: Official non-motorized motorcycle thread.

It's late-season impulse time! I decided I wanted to upgrade my 2015 Diverge to something with more tire clearance and no SCS wheel bullshit. The 2020 Diverge checked those boxes, so I went to Exeter Cycles to inquire about a frameset. Unfortunately Specialized only sells the S-Works frameset and I was like fffuuuck me I definitely don't need an S-Works. So...now I've got a 2020 S-Works Diverge to build up. I'm anxious to ride it but there were a few parts missing from the kit that I'm still waiting on - I should have it finished up by the weekend.

Did someone say it's gonna snow?

Been crazy busy at work lately and haven't ridden much. Fruitlands was my last race, and it did not go well. Kind of bummed that I am going to miss Northampton this weekend, but I plan to get back on the horse soon. Performing a factory reset on my home computer, which was cripplingly slow, and will start Zwifting again tonight.

I picked up a smart trainer on a whim (company fitness incentive covered it). Having a hard time getting in the groove using it. Is there an affordable alternative to Zwift/TR or do I have to pony up for one of those?

Zwift has a free trial period. Would the company fitness incentive cover a $15 monthly fee? Kind of like a gym membership.

$15/month doesn't seem like much to me if you use it on a semi-regular basis.

A smile creeps on my face when I think about how hooked you are. You've drunk all of the kool-aide skratch. Its awesome. Come visit some time.

FYI, a friend of mine is selling this. Figure the KTMness would be cool for some of you. I like it. I can help arrange shipping/a deal if interested.

I know nothing about the bike, but its spec'ed nicely and I find the looks pretty good. His S-works digs are aimed directly at me, ha!

That KTM looks pretty cool, but did he ride it with the stem like that the whole time?

what are the prefered cable/chain/locks, when you need to secure your bike to something

I am asking, cause I think I want something for my K-Pipe, it barely weights 200 lbs, wouldn't take 4 guys to heft it into a van and drive away, wouldn't even take 2. I can load it into the back of my pickup without ramps, by myself,

For bicycles, you want the shortest U-lock you can get to work: https://www.sheldonbrown.com/lock-strategy.html

Not sure this will work on a small moto, in which case you are better off looking at beefier moto-targeted chains.

Holy crap... Just got my first pair of AMFIB roadie bib pants... Friggin game changer. Legs were so comfy and the chamois is great. Freewheel on the Peugot was not wanting to cooperate in the colder temps though. Gotta figure that one out.

Your freewheel wasn't the only thing not liking the cold.

    Re: Official non-motorized motorcycle thread.

I pulled something in my back lifting my mountain bike onto the stand on Saturday. Then proceeded to ride the MTB an hour later, then road bike sunday. Now I'm useless. I can't sit. I can't lie down. I can barely stand and god forbid I breathe wrong. I'm basically afraid to move. Terrible.

Regarding shoes: I have the specialized Defrosters and they are beyond excellent. A few other companies make similar offerings. I got them in the road cleat version - they might only make the MTB cleat version these days. If its under 20, there's not really anything you can do. Wool socks, toe warmers, and these boots will delay the cold, but eventually it wins.

Talk to me about winter road bike care, I'm not too enthused about putting my BMC on salty roads. WTF do you do, wash it in the bath tub?

Hose it off outside and bring it into the basement. Lube before the next whip when you air up the sneaks.

I have some northwave winter shoes. They suck, don’t bother.
They’re warm though, so I think I’ll get a couple more seasons out of em.

I’ve been making a grand loop of freetown, gravel oriented. I’ve connected most of the dots, I just got to find the time to make a go at the whole thing.

Hose goes bye-bye in the winter. I could probably set up some heat trace on one of my sillcocks though...I was thinking "I'm gonna have to wash this mf'er in my mf'ing bathtub."
