    Re: Thoughts For RandyO

I think I'm gonna be ok, I already have my speech back, still a little stuttering with some words, it was real frustrating trying to communicate when it first happened, I was in my office having quite a productive morning.

about 10:30, I felt a quick sharp pain in my temple, began to experience blurred vision and very light headed, I knew something was wrong but not the same as seizures I have had before. I immediately tried getting the attention of one of my employees took a couple of minutes, best I could do is make grunting noises, ambulance was there in about 5 minutes (maybe 7) I had drooping facial expressions on my left side and could only grunt answers to the EMTs but could hear and understand everything

at the hospital I was rushed immediately into a CT scan (no MRI for me, I have an implant to control my bladder) it took a bit to get an IV into me, my veins are always hard to find, got poked at least a half dozen times my as many EMTs & nurses before they finally got one in (not the first time this has happened trying to get an IV in me or draw blood, so I'm kinda used to it)

after about 4-5 hours, my speech began to become coherent, probably have to stay here a couple days for observation and more testing, so far diagnosis is either just a blood pressure spike, (it jumped from my normal 135/78 to 225/125 or a mini-stroke, CT scan showed nothing abnormal, and no bleeders, because I can't have a MRI, they need to do another CT scan on a couple days.

been a rough week for me, Tuesday last week, I had my annual physical, doctor found some lumps he didn't like and Wednesday morning I had an ultrasound, with the results of that, they immediately scheduled an appointment with my urologist later in the day, but after he looked at the ultrasound he felt that I didn't have cancer but I have to go back in 6 weeks for another ultrasound to confirm

Friday at work, I had to dig a test pit for a septic design, pulling myself into the woods, I flipped my little backhoe and pinned myself underneath it, my client was able to tip it back over, but I got some pretty sizable bruises on my legs

I am thankful that one of my employees is pretty good at recognizing this type of medical emergency (his 5 year old son has a seizure disorder) and that I was at my office and not a mile out in the woods

Good luck and get well, good sir! I know a few people who have had strokes and recovered fully; hopefully you will join that list.

I blame all my medical issues on Lyme, course doctors keep telling me chronic lyme is an imaginary disease

That's a good point. I have a Spot lying around somewhere and have no use for it. You can have it if you think it is of benefit, Randy.

SPOT SATELLITE MESSENGER :: HOME PAGE

It's basically a small device that can send emergency notifications with your position via satellite so you can operate outside the bounds of cellular networks.

I used it when I did my trip to Gaspe, wife said I had to stay in touch at all times. It is a neat little device, press one button for emergency help. You can also program the com button to send a message if you need help, but not emergency situation.

Damn! Happy to hear you're on the mend Randy. I know a few nurses at Frisbee that are fun to look at, hopefully you at least get a view to enjoy in the meantime.
