    Does anyone here Off road?

So I have an Xterra gen 1 its no longer my DD, relegated to Home deopt runs c etc...

I always wanted to offroad... lookslike a lot of fun.

I've been poking around of wht I'd liek to do
specifically a 2"BL and adda leaf to the rear not for clearance but when i do tow or carry weight in the back the rear sags a lot.

Then add some BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 or General grabbers.

but then.. where do I go to offroad? ideas? anyone who goes out and does this?

I'll probably add some bottom armor and some sliders on the side vs the flimsy factory ones.

    Home - ExploringNH.

Great group of people who run a tight ship - all runs are pre-run, trails are rated, they take "tread lightly" very seriously, all runs are divided into "stock / moderate / hard". I started wheeling with them 3 years ago and have made some great friends and learned a lot in the process.

I take my Jeep Grand Cherokee off road. I've added a 2" lift, larger tires, sliders and armor. It does very well and is a lot of fun in the woods!

He rates his trails in how much body damage you should expect. Place is pretty wild. Also opened my eyes to how different "off-roading" on a bike is vs "off-roading" in a jeep/truck/whatever.

Off roading is like riding dirt bikes, but more expensive in every imaginable way.

Just like any hobby, start slow and build out your vehicle as you go along. Lockers are a plus, though you could do a lot with open diffs if you have modern traction control / terrain response programming. Ground clearance is king, so are really good tires. Skids give you peace of mind, though you could get by without them. Rock rails are very important in the tight north east trails, if you care about avoiding body damage. Pack the essential recovery gear, enh has a required list before you can sign up for their rides. Winch goes a long long way, if you get one, get it setup on a hitch so you can move it from front to back if necessary (you'd need a front hitch receiver of course). Trails up here are tight, so limb lifters go a long way. Also be prepared for a lot of pin stripes and scratches (bugs me to no end, but par for the course).

Digging up these photos, I'm going to miss this truck.

I thought it was way slower, and significantly more terrifying.

I'll go out on a limb and say that a guy who takes his G Wagen wheeling is probably financially secure.

Re: Does anyone here Off road?

Here's my Jeep. It now has a 2" lift, 31" tires, rock sliders and extra armor underneath. It came stock with front and rear lockers, 4 low and diesel torque! It is impressive what it can do for how little I've done to it.
It's also my daily driver, tow rig and family hauler. 26 MPG highway makes it even more fun to own!

Re: Does anyone here Off road?

some great info... Will check out these links and hopefully get out soon. NExterra.com has some xterra "stocker runs" 1x a month in Ct which I'll join but am looking to do somehting like caddy daddy some "easy" upgrades. Doubt I 'll want to get into the true rockcrawling. have to change out that oil pan first and do a drier side valve cover leaking some oil...
