    road rage

sooooo....im working last night delivering some pies and im on my way back to the store. to avoid the traffic im using my back road buffet of lightly traveled roads. im making good time when i catch up to a car (Caprice wagon)that is doing the speed limit (35). aggravating...yes...but whatever. i slow down and follow about 2 cars back. about 3 min into this he brake checks me. since im 2 cars back from him at 35 mph this doesnt affect me other than let off the gas and apply very little brake. the road is very windy and when we get to a straight he guns it... so i speed up too..we are now going about 50....im also much further back now. as we approach the stop sign at the end of the road he locks up the brakes....again...im not that close and i was already slowing down for the stop sign that i knew was there. at the stop sign the road splits (R & L)..he goes right and stops. im going left. so i roll up...dont even look at the douche (i think hes an old guy because i thought i saw grey hair when i was behind him) i look a quick R and then left and go.
i then hear tires squealing and i look in the rear view and hes on my ass.
SIDE NOTE: im in a hyundai elantra... not exactly a porshe but for a little car it gets up and goes pretty well, especially above 4500rpm. also remember hes in a V8 8500 lb station wagon. also...had i been in my truck i would have stopped since in the truck im "armed" with a baton whereas in the car all i have is a Mag Lite
so i punch it, he flips on the hi- beams and i turn mine on so i can see where im going at 70mph. the road is fairly straight and im pulling away but the road is short because there is another stop sign ahead that i have to make a right at.
there is a left handed sweeper coming up i take the turn in racer style (other lane) there is a car coming but i have plenty of time, i flip off the HBs and continue. i look back just in time to watch this land yacht go sideways into a ditch and completely take out a telephone pole. there red light and bright blue sparks..then the whole street goes dark and a powerline (or something) falls out of the sky and hits the car.
"should i stop?, should i go back?" as Stoneman would say..."ehhh fuggit"
there was car approaching him anyways. he saw the whole thing. no need to stir the pot...hes in enough trouble without me incriminating myself and adding "road rage" to his ticket...right?
so there you go...road rage gets you no where

    Re: road rage

nice dude. i swear one day i'm going to give someone the pit maneuver.

two weeks ago i had a asshole in a bmw tailgating me in the wifes car. i went from 5th to 2nd gear no brakes. i think he shit his pants. when he recovered he tried passing me in a no pass zone so when he got next to me i pushed him into the other brake down lane. he quickly tried to get away running the red light about 100 tards down the road. good thing he did.

    Re: road rage

If that went down exactly as you described you should:
    a. be nominated for Sainthood for your coolness initially. I tend to get wound up if some one is slowing me down that much and the rest of his behavior would have had me swearing and flipping him off
    b. be given a medal for the lesson you taught him without actually saying a word. (I'd rather 'see' a sermon than hear one...guess he saw one loud and clear!)

    Well done....

(I probably would have gone back because, unlike you, I am no Saint and would have found it hard not to tell him he's an ass and reaped as he sowed...!)

    Re: road rage

it did in fact go down like that. he was doing the speed limit so it i cant get too pissed. i generally get annoyed when they arent doing the limit. the brake checking- whatever.
there was no reason to look at him because it was going to be futile. he wouldve been flipping me off and yelling at me, i wouldnt be able to hear him. i wouldve rolled down the window to hear the charming thoughts he had about my driving. i wouldve told him to fuck off said something rude about his wife/mother/daughter or all 3 told him that chevys suck and he wouldve uttered something dumb then the chase wouldve ensued. crash. nice driving you old fag, hope you learned your lesson about road rage, hows your hip? funny how these giant cars handle like shit. and been on my way.

my way was much easier.... besides..i have a sore throat and i didnt want to yell

If you rear-end them I'd say it's your own damn fault. You're not supposed to tailgate a car in front of you, your momma never told you it isn't safe? You're supposed to keep a safe distance. If someone is going too slow in front of me, I either flash them my high beams real quick (on the highway, they usually move in the right lane), and if they don't move their ass, I just pass them on the right (highway also, never on streets)

If they keep on pissing me off, I follow them home and beat them up with the Maglite. I also carry a Smith & Wesson blade (don't lecture me, yes it is legal, the blade is just about the same length/little shorter as the palm of my hand) Road rage when they ask for it.

    Re: road rage

Why is it that people get pissed when they are the ones being stupid? I am frequently cut off in parking lots with people yelling at me through their windshields.

Most recently, on my way to work, some idiot came cruising up to a red light (I had a green) and started going right on red (which IS legal there) without stopping (which is NOT legal). I realized this was going to happen, so I slowed down to let him be stupid, and he slammed on the brakes, slid a bit cause it was frigid out, and started cursing me while full-on flailing. I laughed a bit and continued on my way. Geez.

    Re: road rage

on my way home i usually take the back way to avoid the highway which is fine because i avoid 2 tolls and it is a much more scenic route. Only problem is that there are only 2-3 passing zones. a couple weeks ago i was driving along going about 55 in a 45 and came up on a car and had to slow down. He was going 30 in a 45 which sucked. I followed him about 1.5-2 cars back for a while until we passed another speed limit sign so i knew that he hadn't just got on the road and was unfamiliar with the limits. After about 1/4 mile after the sign i flashed my highs for a second to indicate (hurry the fuck up!!!) which showed no avail. at this time i was about a mile from one of the coveted passing zones so i just held back for a couple mins.

Passing zone now, i use signals and pass him within the passing zone and he tried to speed up and not let me pass, which he failed at miserably so i got in front of him and slowed back to my 55 in a 45. he is a couple hundred yards behind me and flies up and high beams be. WTF! I hit my brakes and actually stop in the road... he also stops and just sits there in his car behind me... i am still baffled why he didn't just go around but i think he probably shat himself thinking i was going to shoot him or something.

Sorry the ending isn't as fun as Oxx's story

    Re: road rage

The one thing that drives me through the roof is if you beep at someone driving out of control and makeing you have to slam on the brakes and honk at them, and they turn their head and yell and flip you off. That alone sends adrenaline through my veins. What the hell is up with that? Its like being in elementary school again.

DWI charge after crash knocks out power in Rye

    By Adam Leech
    aleech@seacoastonline.com
    January 26, 2008 6:00 AM

RYE — Police arrested a Portsmouth man for driving drunk after his vehicle struck a telephone pole, knocking out power and phone lines for several hours early Friday morning.

Police arrested Robert Watt, 66, of Greenland Road in Portsmouth, and charged him with driving while intoxicated, according to Rye Police Chief Kevin Walsh.

He was not injured in the accident.

The single-car crash occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. Thursday on the east side of South Road.

Power and phone lines were out until approximately 10:30 p.m. after the pole was replaced and Verizon and Public Service of New Hampshire crews reconnected the electricity lines.

PSNH said 130 homes were without electricity.

Watt was released on $1,500 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear at Portsmouth District Court on March 17.

dude, I'd consider calling the cops & tell em exactly what Mr. Watt was doing when the accident occurred.
