    How to Start

    FAQ

There's a certain kind of living rock you really need and regulating the water temp within a few degrees is important...that's about all I know.

How much are you selling the tank and stand for? I may be interested.

    Re: saltwater fish tank

I just setup a 24-gal mini-reef. It's been up and running for about 10 weeks now. I don't think it's any harder than freshwater. So far I have done 1 water change and that is it. Sure you have to mix the salt and check it with a hydrometer but there is not too much to it. I think the key is to not over crowd the tank with too many fish. That way the water quality stays good.

A good book to read is Saltwater Aquariums for Dummies. It's a pretty basic book that tells you about the many different type of setups/filters you can use and what works best for the type of saltwater aquarium you want to have.

You've already got the tank so that is one thing out of the way. You'll prob need different, higher intensity lights, especially if you want to have corals.
Here's a few pics of my fish. I have 2 clowns, a six line wrasse, a coral banded shrimp, and a bunch of tiny cleaner inverts like small hermit craps and snails

Live rock is good because it contains bacteria and organisms that help establish the nitrogen cycle. I opted to go with live sand for a few weeks and then I added some live rock. The key is to not rush it. You have to be a lot more patient then in freshwater where you can practically pour some water in a tank and toss some fish in. Once the tank has properly cycled you can then add a few fish.

It's an expensive hobby. I already have $900+ invested, and I have a small tank.
