I bought this little number two weeks ago, and I love it. It works great in the gym. And I bought a wireless FM transmitter so it can play in my car or home stereo as well.

    Fuck iPod.

I wish they'd put an FM tuner in the ipod...

Although I think that IRiver one is overpriced for only 512MB of memory the fm tuner is a good feature... I guess you need it though when it holds such a small amount of music.

I like U2 a lot but I really think the latest 2 albums are getting pretty pretentious.

Pretty much like one old style "rock" song on each of these albums and the rest is preachy soft stuff...

Bono seems like he is getting pretty delusional, like is actually going to save the world with his music.

I wouldn't have said cold play was pretentious though.. maybe they act pretentious at their concerts but it seemed like their music is all just love songs and the only reason guys hate them is cause they are jealous of all the tail the singer gets.

    Ben,
Don't take offense, but sometimes when I read your posts I think of that public service commercial for art. Where the dog brings the kid a stick and he throws it in the trash, or the clown makes a balloon animal and the kid just looks at it and say's 'I don't see it'. There's more to life than sophisticated clever conversation. Jokes are funny, just laugh.

Sorry man... just thought this was turning into a semi-serious discussion on bands who think they can save the world by singing and scratching their nuts.

But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.

Hehehe, that was pretty funny. I'm listening to Coldplay right now!

Ben, I don't need an iPod, and I don't WANT an iPod. My iRiver weighs all of 32 grams and is a little bigger than a thing of Lip Chap. I can take it when I go running, or riding or snowboarding, and never have to worry about it skipping. You can't do that with an iPod.

Besides, if I'm at home or work, I can just listen to my MP3 collection thru my PC. I don't need an MP3 player for that. Nor do I need one that holds eleventy billion gigs of music that I won't listen to anyway.

You can have your iPod. My iRiver is superior in every aspect.

what's with the negativity, man? you may be too young to remember this, but there was a time when U2's "Bloody Sunday", "October", and other songs actually had the ability to express and influence political emotions. Not just U2, either, but other artists including The Who, the Beatles, Springsteen, et al could be best-selling musicians while also being the political voices of their time. Bob Dylan was referred to as the "conscience of a generation" with his music. It's just a shame that popular music these days consists of lip-synched synthesized pre-packaged crap.

oh yeah i'm thinking about getting an mp3 player too
