Alright, I know we have quite a few skiers on board here. I am looking to find literally the top dog in boot fitting in the area. I am @ my limit trying to deal with the pain of a high instep and large calf. If anyone knows of a real good boot fitter anywhere in the NE area, let me know.

Bring your checkbook but they do great work. Make an appointment, they're ridiculously busy during the ski season with race teams.

dont know of any "boot fitters" but have a piece of info about custom boots for odd feet/leg sizes. my uncle never could find a comfy boot so the way he got his boots made, they basically did impressions and what not of his whole foot and leg. then they did some pressure models to see how and where his weight was to ensure the boot they made fit his foot not just standing but also when he was moving. not sure if thats how they still do it, but just something to look at. good luck, having shitty boots sucks

Surefoot is good and any other company that makes custom insoles.
My father had a set made for him a long time ago and said it was worth every penny.

I would think rear entry boots are better for big Calves...![]()

I thought someone would say that... Rear entry boots have been out for awhile but you can still find them.
and yeah... the last time I did any good amount of skiing was about 92-93. Now I just do about 1 day a year with an occasional night skiing thrown in. I don't even have shapped skis and I am rockin 190cm's![]()

If you have really odd feet (probably not the OP) you can get racer's plug boots and have them ground out to fit your feet.
I second surefoot, stan and dans is good also. I went to surefoot and had them grind my old boots, then they fitted me for a new pair, told me the price and I said there was no way I could afford it at that time. They then gave me all the info from the fitting and told me what brands of boots to look at. They were great!
Good luck
