Have you tried foot beds in them? Depending on the fitment issue, they can make a world of difference for pretty short money.

    Re: Ski/Snowboard 2016/2017

Well my bro just bought me a Burton Clash and managed to finagle himself a never-used-still-has-the-stickers Burton Vapor for $50

Now just looking for a couple pairs of Burton Cartel (non-EST) bindings to slap on them.

    Woohoo!

If the deal has the boots and board you are looking for. There are deals on boots and boards alone. Don't have to get a package deal. I got a great deal on my board when I bought it. Just used my old bindings til I got new ones.

Sunapee is open, has some natural snow, and is making more on two trails. Maybe Saturday!

Not yet, but my sister lives at Sugarbush. She said the top half of the mountain has been great the last few days. Maybe more snow tonight.

Even Gunstock says they are rolling

Hoping for some decent options by 12/26. Not hellbent on anything until then.

Which reminds me, I should get my skis sharpened and waxed. They're due.

    Re: Ski/Snowboard 2016/2017

Went to a local board-shop and got a informed how snowboard tech has changed in the last 10 years (how old my current setup is). I tried on everything, went home and researched online, then went back to pickup new Nitro Select Boots, Union Force Bindings, and a new-but-discontinued Never Summer Board. Spent twice as much as planned but hoping this will outperform and outlast cheaper alternatives -- YOLO.

    RE: Cheap packages...

Talk to a shop and find someone that can get you a board for your style of riding and for your weight. I started with a cheap package board and the thing was so flexible that it was murderous on the NE hard pack trails. It was too weak and would never hold an edge in the chop. I ended up demo'ng a board at a mountain and was blown away at how much easier it was to ride. It held its line with reduce chatter and carved turns like a set of Ohlins. I learned on the crap board but quickly out grew it. Better to start with something you won't toss in the trash or sell in a yard sale for 10 bucks.

Such is the way with almost everything in this world, it seems.
It also helps if you are a miniature human. Entry level gear-like stock SV650 suspension-holds up better to 110lb types than overgrown humans.

I'm a larger human, agree with this post, and can say that I've found Never Summer boards, with wood core, to not only have plenty of spring when new, but they stay that way for a LONG time. I'm on my second one now, and if it ever wears out, will go right back to another. Love it...

    Re: Ski/Snowboard 2016/2017

i did killington on tues. not bad for this time of year. it got beat up pretty fast. not a lot groomed. no ice though. new skis, grippy snow and first day out with no ski legs made for a short day. but it was better than being at work.
Jay got nearly 5' this week. im going up tonight to ski tomorrow. allegedly 6"+ forecasted for tonight. hopefully that pans out. downside is that the tram is down for repairs so the bonnie quad is down too because it runs under the tram. so only half the mountain is lift served. probably some epic tree snow out there for those that want to hike though. leaving work early today to pack and wax.

Jay was pretty good. the deepness isnt readily evident until you crash in the woods and try to stand up and sink up to your balls. 6-8" is enough to turn a normally groomed trail into rutted beat up mess within an hour. i managed to find some untouched glades early on and did a couple laps through there.
    possibly bretton woods tomorrow
