I've been to both since the last snowfall and conditions are great.
Just sick of wachusett, been snow boarding probably almost 10 times now all of them at Wawa. By the sounds of things i'm probably going to go get an Air B&B near Mt Sunapee and hit them first thing tomorrow. Ride home might suck but I'm young and stupid so its ok.

I just bought season tickets for 2018/2019 for my wife and I at Ragged for $259 each. There are no blackout dates and they include the remainder of this season as well. It's not the biggest or most challenging place, but we like the trails, lifts and lodge, it's a really easy drive for us, and the conditions are usually decent. We were planning to ski there on this Saturday for around 65 bucks each and some weekday next week for around 35 bucks (using liftopia) each, regardless; so we essentially got season tickets for next year for 149 bucks. That's pretty tough to beat.

We will still ski at other areas, but our favorite quick day-trip place to work on technique just got absurdly affordable.

Sugarloaf is reporting 20" from last night and still snowing. They have 4' of fresh in the last week. Makes me wish I had gone a few times this year, no way my legs would handle that powder, I'd be jello after 1 run!

    That's pretty sweet.

I'm surprised Gunstock isn't your go-to. Has to be a similar drive for you. I've never skied Ragged. But google says it's a solid 30 min further for me.

I skied 0 days this year.

Not a big fan of Gunstock, the trails all have really long flat runs at the bottom that irk me. They should have moved the lodge up the hill a 1/4 mile which would make the skiing better and reduce the time it takes to ride the lift back up. Ragged has decent pitch top to bottom IMO, and better lifts. Those 4 person and 6 person high speed detachable chairs at Ragged really move people up the mountain. I skied 0 days last season and the one before due to shoulder reconstruction surgery and the really long rehab that goes with it. Got my wife back into it after 17 years out of it, and bought more comfortable boots this year. We are having a great time. I finally feel like I have all my old skills back from when I skied 30+ times a year.

So...I royally screwed myself with work, but I was able to get out and ski Jay Tuesday and Cannon yesterday. Yep, I'm good for the season now.

Yesterday was epic at Mt Snow! Just plain awesome...About a foot fresh on top of four or five feet in the past week, pleasant temps and snowing all day, no waiting for chairs and hardly anyone on the trails.

    Freshies all day baby!

The end of my driveway was plowed in when I woke up yesterday, but got out today to dig trenches in some perfect corduroy. At one point I was doing big, fast, symetrical turns from one side of the slope to the other and at the end of a heelside I see the shadow out of the corner of my eye and just missed being taken out by some dipshit straightlining. There was nobody on the slope except him and me! I shared my thoughts with him. :-\

It was so good that I imagine it will continue to be good for a little while. They have a great base to work with and coldish temps up there for the near term. It was still snowing when we left and was forecast to snow all day today too, although I haven’t checked if that happened. Get up there!
And did you get the orange bike roosting?

Every time someone says they went to Mt Snow, a little piece of me dies inside.

    Re: Ski/Snowboard 2017/2018

yearly trip with the boys this past mon-wed. i couldnt take that much time off so i convinced 3 others to get up early and head to smuggs on sunday. skied most of the day. first time there for any of us. moutain wasnt bad. lifts suck. ALL double chairs and all very slow. i hate skiing weekends but crowds were oddly light. headed to the cabin by sugarbush afterwards to meet up with the rest of the group.
day 2 was at the bush. conditions were perfect. mostly cloudy but temps were 30 degrees. snow was perfecto. almost west coasty. no ice. skied open to close.
day 3 was snowing but not as much as we thought. original plan was for me and my travel partner to ski til lunch then head home. everyone was pretty sore from the previous day so we packed up to head out and they started day drinking.
day 4 had the rest of the group skiing and riding in 16" of powder.

thats 2 years in a row for us with this trip getting a huge storm while there.

    Re: Ski/Snowboard 2017/2018

Just got home from a couple of days shredding Killingon. Holy shit, the snow was fucking incredible. 90% of the mountain was left ungroomed because it didn't NEED any grooming. Tons of glade skiing, a lot of the trails had naturally made moguls, and the ones that didn't had great conditions otherwise. Absolutely beautiful. Easily the best two days of skiing I've had in a LONNNNGGGGG time.

Wanted to get out there again today, but the group I was with, including my ride home, had to pack up, clean the condo & head home by noon time.

Been in Lincoln since Friday with kids hitting up Waterville, couldn't ask for better snow conditions. Heading to Waterville now for our last day.
