    Ski/Snowboard 2021/22 Season

Haven't seen this thread yet this year.

Just picked up the full boat IKON this year. Jackson hole is in the cards, so it didn't make any sense to get the base one and then pay the extra $150 for 5 days in Jackson just to save ~100 bucks. The full pass has no blackouts and gets you 7 days at all the contributing mountains instead of 5.

My van is still back in Boston, so the plan is to do a big ol' cross country winter trip. See Marco in Big Sky. Hit up Jackson. Then through Tahoe on the way back to SF. Would love to ski a handful of others as well.
My partner is toying with spending a month in Jackson if we can find a reasonable place/price. A close friend of ours quit his corporate lawyer gig, bought a truck and trailer, and will be spending a lot of time there as well as Alaska and everything in-between doing a lot of mountaineering. His wife is going to stay in Jackson a bit with him so that's what put the idea in our heads.

Will be in New England around Thanksgiving and the Holidays too. Hoping there's snow for backcountry adventures while I'm back.

May hit up Mammoth as soon as next weekend when the open up. The Sierra are getting a good old dump this week and next!

Wow....While at JH you might want to hit Grand Targhee. I got a ski in /out deal at the base for 200 bucks for 2 with lift tickets. It's beautiful. Laidback. I also drove up to the southern entrance to Yellowstone via Grand Teton National Park. Saw herds of caribou. I means thousands. I did JH for a required update on my PISA. Pics please.

Let me know when you big sky and JH. I'm doin Banff in March but need another trip and I should have a place to stay in JH. I'd have to buy tickets there though. Base level IKON through my Kton beast pass is non-upgradable.

Also, huge lulz at cheap monthly rental in JH. They're housing crisis is getting bad.

Ha, yeah. I purposely chose the word "reasonable" instead of "cheap." JH is so deep in it.

When I was visiting Marco at Big Sky last year I was trying to get the lay of the land to help inform a real estate search. Big Sky checks a lot of boxes - the best one being it is an hour from an Airport, so flying for a weekend is almost as easy as a trip to Tahoe. But I'm too late, the housing crisis has hit them too. Marco can say a lot more about it than I can, but I expected there to be reasonable priced places and there just isn't.

That said...Tahoe prices in the off season are better than you expect.

Pretty excited for this winter. We are scheduled to finish on our ridiculous new community center mid February. Prices have skyrocketed here but if your lucky you can still find something. I have a friend who has a house that might be available for mid winter.... just saying could potentially be a solid base of operations....

Jackson for a few days is nice but im biased to up here...

When do you plan to hit Big Sky? If you wanted to get a place I could be convinced to do a week out there Jan / Feb as I should be in Banff early March.

We've done zero planning thus far, but it looks like this trip will happen first couple weeks in February.
I need to figure the right timing...closing the year and publishing financials can suck with a few things I do at work.

I have been to Utah several times, but this year I want to go to Aspen. I have a choice between freeriding near Aspen, or riding with all the comforts. I haven’t been on freeride yet (only when we made a slide in the backyard, with snow blowers, and rolled off it, if you can call it freeride ), but I wasn’t in Aspen either. That is why I now have such a difficult choice.

Aspen was really cool to do once. Hike the highland bowl and slide down to your cloud 9 reservation. Opulence for the sake of opulence is ok every once in a while.

Friends of ours have been renting a condo for the season on the slopes at Sugarbush for years. Both parents instruct and the kids compete so they thought it worthwhile.

In 2019-2020 it was $7,000. In 2020-2021 it went up to $9,000.

They were informed in September the price this season: $19,000!

You can get a full house in killington for 20k a season. Hell, we get a 5 bedroom for 30k for the whole year.

I was peaking at month long rentals around Big Sky and its looking like very few available and 16k+, so that is out.
Bozeman is reasonable, but that's too far, to be honest.

The bozeman drive isnt that bad, 45min give or take. Theres a few spots in gallatin gateway at the mouth of the canyon. Depending on the month I also may have a line on a spot in town for ya.

My little brother hit up Wachusett last weekend. Not sure if they're spinning lifts mid-week. Probably your best bet!
