That's the old style yes. The new style uses an accelerometer to track revolutions and mounts around the hub with a rubber strap.

Bought a 44mm Apple 6, and my son politely declined. Not only can’t he wear it for workouts, but unknown to me, they are banned from many of his classes.

The differences from the 5 I have are (mostly)
    Oximeter [Blood Oxygen] sensor
Same battery life but charges faster
    Different band style: Velcro closure.
    Slightly faster processor.
    Brighter display (not really noticeable).

Because Covid decided to keep it: the Oximeter I have is not great. I’ll use it a week to make sure I like it, then sell my Apple Watch 5 GPS.

I wear mine during Hockey and use the HockeyTracker app. It gives me heart rate, skating speed, and distance skated - by shift. There is nothing like it in the Android world. Almost worth it for me just for that.

    Wrestling - ditto
Lacrosse - doesn’t fit under glove.

Not being able to wear it during a game is understandable. But during a workout?
