I'll hold out on changing over to the snows for another month or so.

Talking a couple inches up here Sun/Mon. Probably swap over between Sat and Sun. Summer tires on the buick are getting thin, so don't want to play that game.

Remember these are winter tires, not just "snow tires". You also benefit driving on them when it is very cold as the rubber compound is softer. The way I look at it, if I put them a month early and just drive in colder weather vs snow/ice, I am not wasting the tire since my summer tires are used less. Between using 2 dedicated sets for the cars, my tires last a long time

That means the summer tires will last even longer at cold temps!

    Re: Snow tires....

I picked up a set of blizzak from ebay just a month ago.
I've found that shopping around, you can usually find a set of 4 on there (new) at a good price.
    Wheels came from discount tire.
    Mount/balance myself.

Didn't find any used locally that were worth while this time around.

Tirerack and Discount Tire depending on rebates. Sometimes you can get lucky with a sale and rebates on Discount Tire.

Nokians aren’t really sold online so we buy locally.

Their installed price for the BF Goodrich we just purchased was almost identical for what we paid installed, and disposing of the old tires. Most rebates are at least regional so you get them locally as well.

DTD has Nokians. Tire Rack does not.

Direct Tire is a major Nokian distributor. But their shipped prices are higher than any local dealer.

They’ve been great dealing with my daughter in Colorado Springs.

I don't mind since I M&B tires myself for free at work.
