I didn't think any of these options were $30K or less...I thought the A4s went for low 30s...

As did I, which is why I didn't even think of it, but the 08 2.0 T starts at just under 29K. Maybe the 09 is a tad less? Ill have to see.

How firm is your company on the 30k price? Infiniti G35 sedans start at $31,850. I have an '04 and they are a lot of fun to drive while offering a decent amount of luxury.

I think the Acura TSX is your best option. All options with Nav would probably be $30,000. I had the TSX before and it was an awesome car for the money. You may also look into the Subaru Legacy GT.

    Re: Suggestions on a car

I haven;t gotten to an acura dealership yet, but I looked at the A4, Accord V6, saab 9-3, infinity G35. The saab is too small, Infinity didn't even want to talk to me (are they really salesmen cause they suck at their job! lol), The A4 is in the running, and the accord is much nicer than the last one I drove (and its fucking HUGE for an accord!). Im not sure how stiff they are on the 30K number, but being a new employee and this being my first ride from them, I'm not really going to push it too hard. Once Im out and prove myself for a couple years Ill be in a much better place to negotiate a little more out of them.

    Re: Suggestions on a car

If you are willing to go to Nashua to the Acura dealer ask for Linda and tell her that Dave Michaud (and Bette) sent you! Shes good. Drive the car. If you like it just tell them that the only way you can buy it is if they come in under 30k. (Ask about demo's too!)

    Good luck...

    Dave

    Re: Suggestions on a car

Don't negotiate with your employer, Negotiate with the dealer. Tell them you have exactly $30k to spend no more no less, and only look at cars on the lot that have a price range of $33k+ . If your employer sees you getting a $36k-$37k just for $30k then they'll know your a good sales man. I was actually offered a job at a car dealership because I negotiated the shit out of them. I kindly declined.

Thanks Dave, will do! The TSX is a definite option

Looking at the TSX, compared to a well equipped v6 accord, what are your opinions? Let's call a spade a spade, they are both hondas, and with all the equipment in the accord really what are you missing? I really haven't followed this market much since it wasn't something I anticipated buying for a while.

I should probably also add that Im 26 without a lot of "luxury" experience. Ive always been the kind of person who will spend more on performance than comforts. If I have a choice between hp and handling or leather and ac, there's no contest. Ofcourse, now I have to impress people so I'm being a little more flexible.

The TSX comes with all options except for things like Nav system. You can get extras like MP3 player, A-Spec Kit, etc... but other than that, it is a superior car over the Accord IMO. The TSX comes stock with Leather, moon roof, HID Lights.

You should talk with my contact at Herb Connolly Acura in Framingham. His name is Jimmy Goon and he is the Internet Sales Manager. Let him know that Wilson Kwong referred you and he should give you a decent price on a TSX. I'm sometimes in the neighborhood so I could swing by and have you meet him if you wanted too. Let me know.

I really don't know what the real difference is between the Acura and the Honda...BUT...if you are interested in HONDA let me know and I can have the owner of Peters Honda in Nashua take care of you. I have had a lot of friends buy cars from Peters and the experience has always been good and I am good friends with Peter Proko.

If this interests you PM me with your real name, cell, etc...

    Dave

Oh yeah, I visited them as well, and I did not feel like I was at a luxury dealership. They treated me like shit and wouldn't give me the time of day. I almost asked him where he learned to sell because he sold me on NOT buying a car from him. If they only knew I just accepted a job that should put me in a position to afford a very nice vehicle in the next couple years. I always liked BMW, but I'm not going there again. That actually reminds me, I wanted to call BMW today to tell them of my experience.

Oh I can negotiate very well, but my point was, if the company says 30, Im not going to come to them with a deal for 30. Its a small company (all of 18 of us in the US) and a close knit group of people. Its more about me not taking advantage of them than anything else. Plus that was just a quick figure and I have a feeling they would like it to be a little less. They don't really care how much the car is worth because they give it to me when its paid, so there's no long term investment to them.

Nope no adult business people, but the children are mature for their age : Sorry rich I had to!

The avalon is nice, but not quite in the budget for the options. I'd rather go a well equipped camry than stripped down avalon.

    Re: Suggestions on a car

I'll vote for the Audi A4 as well... although an A3 would be a good choice too if you want to save the company a little money. If you negotiate aggressively, you might be able to get an A3 S-Line for under $30k.

Also consider the impression the car might make on your clients. If I were a client and got picked up in an Avalanche, I wouldn't think too highly of it (granted, might just be me because I hate those fucking things). A European sedan will project a more businesslike image than a truck, and it's a bit more distinctive than a Japanese sedan without being ostentatious.

    Re: Suggestions on a car

I recently drove my friends new Accord. It was only the four cylinder and I was very impressed. The engine was quite responsive in anything below top gear. I assume the V6 is even better, but if you're looking to be nice to your new company, then consider the four cylinder (initial cost and fuel). We drove it to the NY IMS and it held four adults comfortably, something my 3 series has no chance of doing.

Im with Mark on the truck vs. car idea. Assuming you're going to be taking clients to lunches, other meetings, whatever. I feel like a truck, SUV just doesnt say 'business'. European or Japanese cars will have luxury and sophistication.
I also didnt see anyone mention a new Dodge Charger, Chrysler 300M, or even an Impala SS... all can be hooked up for less than 30K
