True. I have an older G1WH and it's been great. I haven't felt the need to upgrade yet.
I'm not sure I need to spend the kind of money for the Blackvue since mine has served its purpose well so far

I am the eternal shopper. It takes me forever to make a technology purchasing decision because I'm always afraid of saving a few bucks and missing out on some feature I didn't realize I needed.

Just got it in from China.
It's nice and small and looks easy to mount behind the mirror, which I wanted. But the power supply is in the plug. It comes with a 12' power supply cable to go around the windshield and plug in. I ordered a power supply ($5) I can put up near the unit so it's self-contained.
Thought it came with a MicroSD card but apparently not. I ordered a Class 10 16GB card for $9.

I had to get one of those to hardware mine too.

So I ordered this one.

I was swayed by the dual 1080p and the built in vehicle battery protection. I paid $300 shipped for a brand new unit (from canada).

Thought of that... but that's the easy joke.
Instead I opted to with the one that was more likely to get stuck in your head & drive you insane![]()

Have you got this thing set up yet?
I just got a mount that I ordered from China for my Contour to mount in the car so I can have instant on video for inside the car just in case I get a rowdy and unruly Uber or Lyft passenger.
Still thinking about getting this as well, Is the front camera a quick disconnect or does it stay put once you mount it?
Have you got your product and installed it yet?
Has not arrived yet. Probably today.
It is quick disconnect. Power lead and rear camera coax disconnect then it unclips from the windshield mount.
The only way to get an inside the cab view with this would be to mount the rear camera on the rear view mirror or something. There are dashcams specifically for taxis though. Just google "taxicam". There usually have two cameras in one unit and the cameras can be swiveled where you want them.

Ok. It arrived. I checked it out and it seems very high quality. I was surprised to find the vendor I bought it from also included the GPS unit with it (usually $40 extra).
I'll be installing it as soon as I have a hardwire solution for it. I'm not hanging a wire down to the cigar lighter outlet. That's ghetto.

Nice.. not sure if you saw this review video but it has a short review and tutorial on how this guy installed his and got power to it.
I e-mailed Pittasoft (aka. Blackvue) and asked if they were making a 3 channel incorporating the front, rear and interior IR cameras and they said it's in the works and will be out end of the year so looks like i'm getting the 2 channel and using my Contour for interior when I need it and then upgrade when the 3 channel comes out and putting the 2 channel in my girls car.
the review and install video...
I realized a while ago that if I want a tail cam I can just mount another unit in the back window. There's no compelling reason to link them. Running a cable back-to-front seems like a pain: do they use Bluetooth?

I was also thinking this... get a 2 channel with the interior cam. then get a totally separate single unit for the back but that solution is not as nice a a 3 channel that records everything simultaneously and can be all viewed simultaneously on their phone app and computer app. Furthermore, would that app work with 2 separate units in such close proximity as it does connect via WiFi.
too many "ifs" for a unit this expensive. Sounds like to me id be better of with the 2 channel then upgrading to the 3 channel if I feel its needed as I do have a separate unit for videoing in the car already.
One benfit of the 2 ch system is it will record voice in the car so at least you will get a verbal record of an altercation if one arises
Also remember there is a separate unit powering these while the car is off and shutting them off when the charge of the the battery gets to low.
I don't want to have to buy 2 of those...
Well, the one I bought doesn't need a power magic as it has low voltage cutoff built in. If you run two separate units, you need 2 power sources which I think is a pain in the ass. I don't know of any that have the cameras communicate by Bluetooth. The coax cable between cameras is very thin and easy to tuck behind the head liner.
I'm going to look into finding a power source in the overhead console in my Benz c300.
