    Re: Let's talk trucks

Truck ran GREAT last night at New England Dragway in Epping, NH! I wasn't sure what modes to use so I tried a bunch of stuff. Truck has a lot more in it for sure, I was chopping off 1/10's each run. I actually almost beat a newer 5.0 Mustang in the 1/8th!!!

Run 1- Sport, TC/SC off, 2WD, Auto Tranny, no brake boost: 14.712 @91.29
Run 2- Sport, TC/SC off, 2WD, Manual Tranny, no brake boost: 14.349 @94.91
Run 3- Sport, TC/SC off, AWD, Manual Tranny, brake boost: 14.131 @94.55
    Run 4- Sport, TC/SC off, 2WD, Manual Tranny, brake boost: 15.536 @90.37
Run 5- Sport, TC/SC off, AWD, Manual Tranny, brake boost: 13.993 @92.63

Thats all the runs I got, im sure I could get down into the mid 13s with less gas and brake boosting harder and get a 1.9X 60'.

    Heres the slips:

Heres the video, runs 1,3,4,5 (forgot the gopro run 2)

Truck is pretty much JDM tunings Stage 1 setup

    -Team JDM Tune
    -SPD Turbo Adapters
    -AFE Intake
    -AFE Hot side pipe
    -Whipple intercooler
    -Turbosmart BOV

STOCK EXHAUST/DOWNPIPES! Half tank of gas, low 60s ambient. Track was prepped well.

Run #5 is my fastest and favorite, I almost get a 5.0 mustang in the 8th!!

High thirteens at 90+ is fast for a 5-6000 pnd full size 4wd truck. Years ago I ran a Cutlass with a mildly built 455 and when i broke thirteens I thought I was flying lol. New trucks are amazing with the GM LS and Ecoboost/coyote 5.0.

    Re: Let's talk trucks

I was trying to buy a good used truck but...

I am old , when I was young a 10 year old truck was worth like $100 to 250
So even with inflation that would be 1500 to say 3000 today,, but no they want mid teens for a truck with over 150K

I have no problem saying a new one is better but I can't do it , I would always feel I was screwed. New trucks are priced 50% over what they should be so it carries down to used but I can't bring myself

SO we are buying Mama a new Subie Ascent and I will do with her old Sienna

Rant over , carry on citizens

Totally making fun of myself here since I own one, but this made me laugh.

I recently bought a Raptor 350 used and when I show up the dude yells “Sweet all black Dodge Ram!” as I get out of it wearing an express dress shirt (coming from work).

He showed me the vid later haha. We've actually become pretty good friends.

    “I need 8-9 co-signers.”

When I see an all black Ram, the first thing that comes to mind is “Zero money down!” Along with any Mitsubishi.

A coworker and I went up there last month with his 2016 Sierra 6.2 all stock. He hit low 14’s @ 98mph in a few runs but never got that 13. He did have a baby seat though.

Def not. There are only 2 truck motors that are impressive to me, one is the eco-boost and the other is that 6.2. I had one, a 2015, and it was genuinely impressive.

    Re: Let's talk trucks

I sold my 2007 GMC Sierra 2500HD CCSB 4x4 classic Duramax LBZ on Saturday. I paid $18,700 almost 5 years ago, put 40,000 miles on it (mostly towing a boat that I sold earlier this year) and sold it for $15,000 with the CEL on (turbo issues), and the transmission and the transfer case leaking (both leaks are easy fixes). Pretty happy with the whole ownership experience, it was a great truck. I miss it a little, but I have no need for it and am trying to de-clutter and simplify my life. I am astounded that I could get $15k for a 12 year old truck with 220k miles. Looked like new and because it has never been driven in salt, it had no rust; so that helped with the sale price.

And it's waaaay better looking than the family truckster! Hahaa. That is crazy though. The only vehicle I've ever owned that held it's value like that was my KTM 690SMC. Flogged it for five years and sold it for 2k less than I paid for it new.

I’d rock that green/wood wagon all day long, rather drive that than anything new.

LBZ helped too. Dealing with diesel emissions sucks balls and everyone wants that motor.

The LBZ motor was why I bought that particular year. Nice motor and nicely integrated with the Allison gearbox . I kept it stock and it towed effortlessly.
