That is... awesome. Horrible styling.. but awesome specs.

The AWD is $50k, self driving, 300mi range and $50k?! Damn.

And it has a 220V outlet in the bed? So I can back-feed into my house in a power outage maybe?

I only saw pictures of it when I woke and "hated" it. After seeing how bad ass it is, I'm already warming up. Integrated ramps in tailgate. How fucking long did it take for someone to finally figure that out.

    Autopilot isn't though.

Autopilot is like cruise control on meth.

Self Driving is all "The park, Bitterman. Drive through the park"

It could look like the Oscar Meyer weinermobile, but a giant turd instead of a sausage and I'd still drive it if it never rusted and has specs like this.

    Blade Runner-esque this is not. it's a total cop-out.

i would think he hopes to sell more than just one to you though. it's a poor design ... shoulda just slapped a DMC body on it sans headlights and grille.

    Re: Let's talk trucks

To even release this design was a interesting action. If the truck functions as advertised and blows away the competition, it will be fascinating to see if the people can tolerate the looks. I'm not sure yet whether this is idiotic or brilliant. Time alone will tell. It is certainly a challenge for everyone involved! hahaa.

The interior looks nicer and roomier than expected. 6.5 foot bed doesnt even look possible whn you see the inside and outside. I think I need to see it next to a full sized truck.

And let's not forget, Chevy released this...

I couldn't imagine how you could sell even one of these, and yet, there it is.

I get it. Aside from the styling the specs are on the mark.

I forgot to mention the tow capacity. 10k lbs in AWD trim. What more could you want?!

I think Elon is asking a basic question here. Can we change? I think the answer is finally maybe! He has been a driving force in futurism. Why doesn't our world look like the jetsons yet? Change has been a lot slower than anyone expected.

This price point is really impressive if you think about it. I mean like really impressive.
I wonder if the crazy styling is a result of cost-cutting. IE making something that looks like this means they can make it for a lot less.

What about range in the winter? I have a friend that has a Chevy ev and his major complaint is the dogshit range in the winter.

it has to be a joke ('bulletproof' glass breaks... twice?), or Franz will be leaving soon if Elon actually pushed for this.

i don't think the design is futuristic at all, it looks unrendered and overly basic with zero thought put into it. look at the wheel design, stuck on hubcaps from Autozone. makes no sense whatsoever.

Franz is a more-than-capable designer and i believe Elon looks up to Giorgetto Giugiaro. i would think anyone in the field could take a day or two, soak themselves in Giugiaro's body of early work (Lotus, BMW, DMC, Porsche, Maserati, etc.), 'futurize' the styling cues and end up with a better product than this.

    something is fishy.

    Re: Let's talk trucks

The price point I suspect is selling at a significant loss and there is some hope that by the time production starts they'll have found some way to lower the costs to make them viable? Teslas have some pretty big design flaws when it comes to dealing with the elements, until there are a bunch of these out in the wild actually being used as trucks and surviving things like Maine winters, I'm going to sit on the sidelines. Also, still think it looks like a cheap TV sci fi prop, curious how it crashes, and how much strength do you loose as you dent the bed sides/tailgate up?

    Yup.

Beats any other full sized that I've considered. All around the same price (or more) for antiquated garbage.

If I can get 100 miles of range towing my lightly loaded 6.5'x14' V Nose aluminum trailer, this thing will do everything I want. Plenty of superchargers between my house and NYST which is the most remote track I'd be towing to.

It's a $100 they get to hold onto for two years. I can decide to take my money back at any point if I decide it's not for me. Small opportunity cost.

For my uses (which is my only consideration), I don't tow in the winter, so range is less of an issue. Also, I park in a heated garage, so the batteries don't need to heat themselves to begin the drive cycle. That's half the normal commute every day.

But yes, cold weather range is significantly impacted, partially due to heating the batteries, and also to keep the cabin warm.

Wow. As huge as this thing looks, it's a full 16" narrower than a new F-150. Jesus christ fullsize trucks have gotten stupid large.
